• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I know we are all different and like/need different things but there are three mods that have really made the RT work for me.

Love my Corbin seat. The stock seat wasn't too bad but I love having a backrest for the driver and I love the fuel door every time I use it. The seat fits me so well that I never want to get out of it. It is by far the best seat I've had on any bikes I've owned in the past. It's really great for the long haul.

The next is the Street Magic Shorty shield from ESI. I've had a chance to put some real miles on it now in all sorts of weather and this is working out perfect for me. I love being able to look over the shield and still get a little wind when I need it. The other plus is in the rain I'm not looking through my glasses, my helmet shield and a windshield. I found in heavy rain that just doesn't work for me, there's too much distortion.

The funny thing is that even though I'm looking over it and it's 3" shorter than stock I don't get any wind buffeting and I can wear my normal glasses and not my wrap around glasses. When the wife and I were riding the other day with headsets on I could hear a little wind noise when she had here shield up but I had mine up the whole time and she never picked up any wind noise. It's just perfect for me and I can always raise it up if need be. I love it. :2thumbs:

Last but not least in my Elka front shocks with the 300lb springs. I've been playing with the front end of the RT before even leaving the Dealer show where we picked them up. One of the first mods I did was swap the shocks with what I had on my RS. It made a big improvement but still needed some tweaking. Now I feel I'm where it needs to be and I'm pretty happy with the ride now. This is one of those mods that really depends on your riding style and I'm sure that most folks won't be pushing the RT as hard as I do but living in some of the best twisties in the country has given me the opportunity to really put the RT to the test. Right now I'm a happy guy. :doorag:

Don't forget to tell tham that you also have the WIDE version which is 5 total inches wider than stock as well as being 3 inches shorter. :thumbup:

Lamont, Gotta agree on the Corbin seat and ESI SSS whidshield. Makes it a little cooler here in Fl with the wind coming over the top.
No Elka's for me but the mudflap lights rank right up there for cool mods and a great way to be seen.
 
:agree:with Lamonster, The Corbin seat is my best mod so far. I would be rideing by myself if it wasn't for the Corbin seat. My wife just couldn't handle the stock seat.

2 outa 3 for me

I'm strickly a newbie here. As a matter of fact my RT-S is suppose to be at the dealer this week from the factory. I've only had about 30 miles on one during a demo ride with my wife. She said there wasn't any difference for her btwn the my Gold Wing and the RT-S (except the no falling over thing).
What would sell me the most on the Corbin seat is the fuel door. When I take off on trips alone I like to throw a bag on the passenger seat. Without the fuel door this would be very difficult. Why didn't BRP do this? Seems like such a simple thing to do. The only negative thing is that every Corbin I've sat on (on Gold Wings) seemed hard compared to the stock seat. Might be different on the Spyder.
I also like looking over the windshield and since I'm 5'-7 I could barely do this on my GW with it all the way down. On the Sypder I don't think I will be able to see over it when down all the way. So a shorter shield would be great.
I'll keep the stock shocks and springs. Up here in Ohio it's go straight one mile and turn, go striaght one mile and turn......

I'm going to order new springs for my Elkas. Our two up riding weight will be about 350lbs, no luggage. My current springs are Red and with two inches of preload still too soft. My guess is they are the 250lb springs. Do you think the 300lb springs will be about right for us? I am going to call Elka Tuesday to get them on the way, I like to have then changed before the Bar-B-Q so I can give them a real road test:D.

I would say we are weighing in about the same two up and I just did a 200+ mile trip with the wife and I can't get over how well it handles now. I think you'll be happy.

Ordering my own Corbin soon. But I had to respond to the Ohio roads. Living in central Ohio puts me and my RT close to some great twisties. Try route 555 from Zanesville to the Ohio river. According to an AMA magazine article a few years ago it only has 1463 curves and lots of frame scraping dips and jumps. I always take friends that think Ohio has no good roads for bikes. After the 3 HOUR trip (one way) they are ready for a nap. Most of it is new pavement, the rest hopefully by next season.

Just returned from 600 miles with the ESI Shorty. Very impressed with the performance. It's considerably thicker than the stock windshield and, along with the lower profile, didn't waffle in the wind (we have a lot) at all. Much less buffeting even when fully depressed. While I don't have any empirical evidence, my sense was that the mileage was improved as well.

You guys are KILLING me with all of this Corbin-Talk... That has to be my next addition... I just have to wait 'til Springtime! :gaah:

Who's done what for extra brakelights in here? I'm looking for options...
 
The stock seat is fine for me on shorter rides but after 100 miles the seams bother me, I have put over 5k on the bike since May and the seat isn't getting better for me. Will the Corbin seat help? Also is it hard to install, I am wandering about the electric connection and rear hinge.
