There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. My Spyder on a 5x8 trailer

I had a 5 x 10 trailer much like that one. I thought of the side rails but couldn't come up with a good ramp idea. That's so simple it's genius! Nice work. :2thumbs:

I bought an aluminum trailer that's 63" wide and 8 ft long to haul my Spyder. It works very well and is nice and light. The trailer weights less than 400#. A nice easy tow. I'll be loading it next week. Hope I can remember to take some pics to post.

Your aluminum trailer sounds like it might be the ticket for something I could pull behind my Ford Edge. Do you have a link to the manufacturer's information or anything available?

Yes i would like to know more about this trailer also.

I haven't tried yet, but I don't expect any problems. I'll use two cargo tie-downs through each front rim to counteract front-back movement and one through the rear rim for side-to-side.
I heard even though you have the wheels locked down the body has the tendicy to jump around at high speeds you might want to sure that up also

if you make the floor wider and a lock bracket that lock wheels when rolled on to then a bracket that locks threw the wheel like a snow mobile tie down bill has his like yours and it jumped over the side we are makeing a bracket that locks the wheels and it cant jump off like the latter lock downs

Since you admitted to over engineering, did you consider bolting some wheel chocks to the front of the boards to make sure the Spyder does not shift forward under hard braking? If you used three boards on each side, how did you get 6.5" of raise? Three 2" board would be 4.5" and four would be 6". Can't really tell from the photo. I suppose I could try this with my 5" x 7' trailer, but still not sure there would be enough room to close the gate. I have been backing mine on and removing the tailgate and transporting it inside my van. I use foam pads at the sides of the front wheels to protect them from the rails. Necessity is the mother of invention.
When I tried the "back-in-method" I found that the rev-limiter on my RT kicked in at about 3500 rpm and I could not get enough power (torque) to make it up the ramp:(. Needed to trailer the RT down to the Dragon so I went out and rented a 6x12 U-Haul trailer:(. I like GIJoe's method..I think it will save me some money.

The used trailer cost me $500. It's the Carry-On brand sold at Tractor Supply Company.

Now that my wife has a Buell Blast and my 14-year-old son has a Tomos Streetmate (moped), it's probably going to see more use than just me.

The brand of the aluminum trailer is Aluma. The URL is alumaklm.com. Mine is model 638.

I'd be glad to answer other questions but my response will be slow because I'm using borrowed computers for the next week.

I'm pulling this with an 02 Blazer with a 4.3 engine. I'm eyeing the idea of downsizing to a Forester or an Equinox myself. Can they handle this?? :dontknow:

Thanks for the info, I am going to check into that further. My Edge has a 3.5 liter V6 and I have pulled 1200 pound round bales of hay in a 5X8 trailer behind it already.

tie down

If you look at the link that GIJOE posted in his first post. I had the spyder tied down this way. But after moving around the block and talking to Lamont, I changed to the way it says in the book. I had NO problems and, NO loosening of the straps at all.

Would this type trailer work for a spyder?

Not that expenses and light so i can stand up when not being used.

It will fit your spyder and It has a 2000LBS axle. It should work fine. The only thing I would do is park the spyder on 2x6 board running the full length of the trailer or put a sheet of ply wood on it so the weight of the spyder dont belly the expanded metal deck.

How much tongue weight do you have with your solution? That's what I want to try with mine.
