• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. My Final Retirement

ARtraveler

R.I.P. Dwayne
After eighteen years working with the University of Alaska as an adjunct Accounting Professor, I finally said good bye to them on Monday of this week. My final class will be on Tuesday, April 30.

In this case, the handwriting was on the wall. The University is in dire financial straits. The governor of AK has killed about 35% of the University's funding which is setting them into a tailspin.

The November 30, 7.0 earthquake, pretty much took care of the rest. Eagle River, Chugiak received a lot of damage. The building we were using suffered severe damage, and the University decided not to renew the lease which is up in June 2019.

All of the adjuncts on this campus are now out of work as of Fall Semester (AUG) 2019. The layoffs of main staff due to the budget cuts now leave a pool of mainline profs, now out of work. Guess who is going to get the open positions? :roflblack:

I did not want to be kissed off like most are going to be. A wonderful finish for 18 years of service to the community and to the university. These days...it's all about the money.

They can find someone else to take the summer session that I was scheduled to teach. My comment to the University....BYE! :roflblack::roflblack:

I feel good about my decision. I can now get on with the final chapter of my life.:popcorn:

:congrats: taking final retirement. Enjoy your final chapter of your life. Will you get your pension?

Deanna

No pension from the U for adjuncts. We are non-benefit workers and "at will" at that. Now its SS and 401 K for me.

:congrats: …. ( I hope this is good comment ) …. If you are Happy then I am Happy for you :clap::clap: …………………..Mike :ohyea:

I know this is something you have been planning for and looking forward to. It is a big step in the ladder of life. Here's wishing you a long, happy and healthy retirement..... Jim

Enjoy retirement. Adjuncts are unique in the college world. I am a lead adjunct instructor, which means I am the department head.
Have fun once retirement kicks in.

Congrats Dewayne!

Looking forward to seeing you in the lower 48.

BTW - retirement is the best job I have ever had!!!

Les

Congrats on closing that chapter ... now enjoy that Spyder and whatever else you have going on like moving to the lower 48 as you have planned.

:congrats: on a successful chapter in life and moving on to the next chapter; or as they probably say in accounting closing one bag of beans and opening another bag of beans.:yes::yes: I Wish you nothing but the best in the new chapter!!

Congrats on your retirement! Hope yours lasts longer than mine did. After a little over a month my wife told me to get back to work....

congratulations....🎉🎉🎉

Always good to leave on a high note...🎶 And hey....your ryding season just cleared up..:riding:

Congrats on retiring. Too bad it wasn't on your own timing and terms. You will soon be so busy you won't be able to remember how you had time for work.

I hope you enjoy and get along well with our new boss. That would be you! Wishing you many happy years to come, and by the way, stay active and don't let the old man in.
