• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

more curious than anything

I read on the forums here about vibrations and such and the major cause being the belt. Has anybody ever looked into, or wonder if can has have ever considered a chain option. Not sure if it would be vesible. Maybe something like a double roller chain setup.

Just a thought,

Jim

HYPED

VIBRATION thingee is over hyped.... :gaah:
i noticed it on my 15 F3 back in Feb. of 2015, and it's not even noticeable any longer...
i've been from SC to CA and back via SD, been to Nova Scotia and back, and not once did it enter my mind...

Hey, if you read enough posts on here these things are not worth the cost of an air filter.

Sure many report a vibration between 53 and 57 or 70 and 73 or some other numbers, so what, then slow down a little or speed up. Or get hold of Doc and buy yourself a dampener, it works to rid yourselves of the annoying little chatter at a specific speed or RPM whatever it is.

It is still a lot smoother than a clanketey chain flinging oil all over the place.

Let's see....

Have seen chains on custom spyders and extended swing arms where the chain was two stepped. This is my first belt and have to admit I like the fact I don't have to lube it there is no grease/oil all over, I don't have to adjust it all the time and change it and the sprokets when they wear out...

BELT VIBRATIONS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Glad to here you are reading some posts ..... SOME is the key word ..... because you missed the many posts / threads about the people who have their belts at BELOW - BRP specs and have very little or NO vibrations ..... try it it's FREE .... Mike:thumbup:

I actually have very little vibration and am not concerned. I was just throwing out the thought as an option. Not saying I was gonna do it.

I for one will pass on the chain option for um maybe 200 linked reasons, not to be rude, just an opinion.

Joe
Chains are highly reliable. Highly. Theres a reason why when we raced motorcycles on the road course we used chains and not belts lol. Stronger and far more reliable.
Unfortunately its not practical for these machines really. No need for the overkill strength of a chain, not to mention the mess. For the purposes of these machines belts are the ticket.
