• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Mix-It Audio setup

This was mentioned on another thread, but I thought I would start a new one and show exactly what I've been using for a few months now.

The Mix-It unit allows you to have 4 inputs (2 stereo, 2 mono) and it mixes them into 1 output (headphones, speakers, etc.).

It can run off of a 9v battery or your bikes power. It has a built in Amp and noise suppression.

I use this so I can hear my Garmin, Radar detector and Phone and so far it works pretty darn well.

Sometimes I pick up some random bike noise, and it doesn't seem to like my iphone near it unless it is off or in 'Airplane mode'.

You can really crank things up, and one of the inputs (radar is an obvious good choice) is set to 'priority' so the other channels will mute when it goes off.

I currently use Earfuze earbuds and they also work pretty good. I have yet to integrate my Scala Q2 into this setup---- but I will-- in good time.....

Anyway-- the Mix-It isn't cheap ($160), but is well made (in Kalamazoo Michigan) and works great.

I keep the unit in my tank bag, that I have wired. The wires going to my tank bag are:

Radar Audio (mono priority), Garmin (stereo), Mix-It power, Phone Charger.

While I have not tried it, I see no reason you could not send the sound from the Mix-It output into a BlueTooth sending unit--- and then pick up the signal in your helmet.....

A pair of Earfuze buds is around $40 --- and you get to custom fit them to your ear-- easy to do and they work really well.

Note: I have nothing to do with either company and don't mean to 'advertise' for either of them-- just sharing what is currently working for me.....

Dan...

I've looked at the Earfuze plugs before but have always been concerned about the legal issues. Most states have laws against actual in-ear speakers because they tend to block all outside sounds which can be dangerous.

Do you find they block most of the sound? Any problems fitting them to your ears?

Sorry, btw, I didn't get to chat with you at Lamont's BBQ though, of course, I saw you from a distance.

PS: I'd be interested in learning about your experience with the Mix-It and your Q2 when you get them together. I'd use mine with my G4.

The Earfuze still allows outside sound in--- it doesn't reduce the noise as much as the 'roll and stuff' plugs typically used.

Fitting to the ear is really easy. For my first set I bought the one that comes with an extra bunch of 'goop' so you can do a practice ear. You simply place the buds in your ear where you want them--- then combine the two different 'goops' into one-- then press it into your ear and mold it how you want. Really easy.

Note-- they give you PLENTY of extra goop for each side--- you'll end up pulling some off and ditching it while pressing and molding it to your ear.

Sound quality is pretty good, price is reasonable... and the fit is perfect--- they don't come out once you put them in. I have a pair I use for lawn mowing too.

I've always wondered about state laws pertaining to earplugs while riding or driving--- tried to find into for Michigan and couldn't. I see people drive with earbuds in and I think they're nuts---- then again I assume hearing impaired or completely deaf people can still drive can't they???

State laws vary so check with your state. FL allows them for "comunication purposes only" It might be a streach but while listening to my sirius radio I AM recieving comunications. (from a satilite, no less!)
Thats my story if I am ever asked ........

OH GREAT!!! Just when I get my accessory wish list to a manageable size, something else comes along! :gaah:

You're a bad person, Dan! :D
