• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Mirrors question...

bone crusher

Alignment Specialist
Okay, I have an odd one for everyone... I am about 6'1", 230 pounds...have wide shoulders due to my years of spending time in the gym and it's quite hard to see around my shoulders, even when I tuck my elbows to my side.

Has anyone played with the mirrors to get them to 'open up' more? I see that there is a little plastic piece that prevents the mirror arm from opening up more, but does it matter if you remove that and take the mirrors more horizontal, thus allowing more visibililty? Anything vital that little plastic piece is protecting??

Thanks in advance for your replies...

check out the vendors here, one of them sells mirror extenders that someone had posted a good review for.:opps::hun:

Thank you all...

I will contact the company directly or a local distributor of the extensors. For the $120, there is no question that it's a great addition...what good are mirrors if you can't use them to see behind you?

They're good for checking your teeth for spinach...or bugs! :D

for about 5 bucks you can stick on little convex mirrors less than 1" DIA made just for bikes looks alot cleaner than those extensions:spyder:

roaddog...

That won't work as the mirror doesn't 'see' behind me. A convex mirror will not look through my body (would be interesting if it could!)

Anyway, ordered the extensions today...looking forward to getting them and installing...

Will report back...hopefully, they're easy to install...what's easy for you guys might be a bit tough for me...I'm not overly mechanically inclined...

Lamonster...thanks for the directions...I'll report back to you...

Those extenders look great but I for one think BRP should do something for a poor designed mirror. It is one thing to barely see behind oneself but I alwys set mirrors for the blind spots. These Darn things are useless !!!!

I agree...

The factory mirrors are useless, and IMHO, dangerous...

They should've set them wider to allow for better viewing...

:agree:

Following my test ride, (after putting $1000 USD down, but before delivery) my two feedback comments were:

1. lower the foot brake pad

2. Widen the mirror arms

Not for everyone, but I went to folding bar end mirrors on my motorcycle which should (might) be adaptable to the Spyder.

Mirror Extenders and The Little Plastic Pieces

Can I assume that the small plastic pieces that come off when the Extenders are installed are useless and need not be put back on?

They don't fit without some Dremeling. I fixed mine and used some RTV to put them back in. Looks a lot better with 'em.

extension mirror

I had much difficulity to install the extender using the extractor.. However, I got a 9mm, 3/8 tap and used it to remove the plastic bushing. 10 minute job then.

This maybe a repeat and if so, please remove.
