• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Messy in the rain

2014 RTL, I have a real mess in the rain. Debris on the side of the spyder and passenger. Fenders are very low so i suspect it is coming off the inside of the tire and over the foot guard. I have air wings but they are too high to help.
Anyone else experienced this problem and is there a solution?

Interesting. ...

Never heard anyone mention this. I guess it depends on where your ryding road type and condition and if you have experience ryding in the rain on a cycle. If it is high and it is the early part of a rain storm you will get wet and dirty. Ryde long enough and the road water clears up and you will too. But you will get some dirt. I have an RS with no floor boards or wings and such so generally wash clean by the time I get home. Maybe some RT ryders can better relate to this dilema...:dontknow:

RAIN AND DIRT

I have a 13 RTL. So far I have been lucky not to get caught in a down pour. I do have a complete HD rain suit that I can put on in the event of this situation. I wear high topped motorcycle boots that protect the feet and the bottom of the rain suit covers this. My suit is a two piece. No doubt I will probably be wearing it when our Rusty Spokes take our over night rides coming up.

My wife & I have spent a LOT of time riding in the rain on our 2013 RT Ltd, and while she does get some spray on the back of her helmet when it gets wet, it really takes a long time in a solid downpour with lots of stop-start travelling to get us both seriously wet!?! Or cruddy... (Btw, often encountered sheets of water over the road & sometimes along the road, variable speeds up to 70 mph, & yet all up, with over 5000 miles of 'riding in the rain' & on roads from wet to very wet roads, we've had absolutely NO hydro-planing issues since we tossed the Kenda tires & fitted Kumho's!)

Anyhow, because of our experience with not getting too wet & cruddy riding in the rain on our basically stock RT, I'd hafta wonder dbaucum if the Air Wings might be changing the airflow around the Spyder a bit?? It wouldn't take too much to disturb the flow that tends to keep the rain off the rider & passenger while moving.... Maybe you could try attaching short lengths of thread in a few strategic places to see what different positioning of the wings does to the air flow as you ride? I've done just that to check the airflow out over/around the windscreen & both before & after the installation of the heat recall 'intakes' - it was very interesting to note the changes, plus I was told by a gorgeous young thing that the 'tasselled motor-bike' looked 'cute' too, so ya never know until you try! ;) The wife (who was on the back) hit me when she caught me checking out & grinning at the appreciative gyt tho.... :opps: I'm not sure my arm has recovered yet!

Some folks have added a horizontal rear airfoil to the top trunklid. They say that it reduces some of the rear air turbulence...
