• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Manual Trans Riders - does downshifting/engine braking hurt?

Well Ron, I have OVER 44,000 mi. on my RT's rear brake pads..... Of course they are your pads ( EBC ) .;.... I only got 30,000 mi. for the orig. OEM's ....... Mike:thumbup:

Not getting on you Mike, or anyone else for that matter. I respect your opinion. Just throwing mine into the pot as well.

The SE Spyders are designed to prevent excessive lugging which is why they downshift on their own - but as the design implies - its at a much lower RPM (just enough to prevent excessive lugging) not at an optimal power band RPM.
Let's also remind SE users that downshifting manually is very UNlikely to damage the engine or anything else in the drive-line. This is because the nanny will not allow any shift to occur where the engine RPM:wheel speed ratio would be outside the safe operating range after the shift.

Of course, defective components like the front sprocket, or any other component if defective, would be excepted because the nanny program would obviously assume quality parts, not allowing for defects.

if you saw the way i ride your first thoughts would be, OH THAT POOR BIKE/TRIKE.

i will find the weakest link in the drivetrain.

i broke the ring & pinion gears in a kenworth cascadia.

i broke the ''ear'' off a 300 pound anvil.
