Making the best of it ..

I started a project last fall, building a 36x30 steel arch building on our lot in Arizona. I was overly optimistic how much work it would take, and just how much my old body could still handle. So, heading into March, and with several planned trips ahead of us (including a Ryde-In or two), I wasn't sure we could finish by the time we leave here the end of April.

Sheltering in place for most of March and all of April, with all trips canceled, staying off Nextdoor and Spyderlovers, I was able to get it finished.

Now we're ready for next winter, which should be 90% play time.

The steel building is from Canada. I don't know if they make their own steel or import from China. I don't much care.

The materials for the end wall with windows and doors came from Home Depot. I didn't check the country of origin, but I know the doors and windows were made in the US, made of raw materials sourced from - anyone's guess.

Pretty sure the wood came from North American forests.

I wanted, among other things, a place to set up a Spyder workshop. A couple more stimulus checks and I should have that sooner than later!

On a more serious note, I realize how very fortunate we are to be at the point of our lives where our income is not dependent on the job market. This has got to be a terrible time for those many American families living paycheck to paycheck and now there is none. Young families are in a really tough place. My heart goes out to them.

You are so right, Pete. It's depressing to see our wage earning grandchildren having to go through it.

Very nice looking building.
Being retired has its advantages in time and attention to/for projects.
Fortunately my sons are weathering the storm. Should be able to get back
to work in a few weeks.

The end with the windows and doors is an 'Arizona Room' which is basically a lounge area. We will probably have a TV there at some point. Next winter we'll build the patio. Winters here are very pleasant.

Looks great Pete, I couldn't have a :spyder2: here with out the 700 sq ft garage I added. ( detached) A space for the old Mustang and MGtd from days past is now the shop, :spyder2: and V-Max storage. As we often get snow here, the cars must be in a garage ( attached). You must have a decent size lot for both the hut and your trailer.

Hope your both well.. We are fine. Most of the summer jobs are now finished. And boy do my windows look good.nojoke

The 5th wheel is our primary living quarters. It's quite adequate with 2 bedrooms, 1-1/2 baths, full kitchen inside and outdoor partial kitchen. We're both former sailors, so to us it's like living aboard a luxury yacht!

Good to hear from you Lew. We're both doing well, thanks, and taking extraordinary steps to stay that way.

Our lot is 105x64, so not all that big, but big enough. We even have space in front of our 5th wheel for guest campers to park their trailer or motor home.
