• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

making oil change cleaner ... 1330 RT

I am due for an oil change on my 2015 RT. Last time, even after watching Smoak's videos, there was a mess with oil tracking onto the plastic panels underneath. I used my J&S jack with spyder adapter as well as the oil diversion pan. Before I started the change, I trimmed the openings that the draining oil is SUPPOSED to drain thru. I marked some painters tape after determining there was no danger of damaging anything under the panels. A dremel with a small cutting wheel did the job. I "cleaned" the trim job up with a ting sanding disc and it is all done. Oil ended on the drain diversion and into the drain pan. I could catch both drains with one pan!! I did find one wrapped electrical cable underneath the trans side but luckily didn't hit it.

Any reason not to use a fumoto valve in there?

http://www.fumotousa.com/

I have one in my Mercedes and had one in my Saturn Sky Redline.

Welcome. ..

Congrats...this is a quick and simple way to keep the oil draining straight out...:2thumbs:

I've used Fumoto valves on my cars as well. General consensus here was that there isn't enough clearance under the bike for the valve. Although they do have a low clearance version that could work.

Good info. I'll see when I do mine in the next couple of weeks. The bike only has 1600 miles on it, but is an 03 with an undocumented maintenance history, so I think I should just reset the clock on it.

Done and done.

Well I got the :spyder2: up on jack stands and a block. Easy to cut the plastic around the 2 plugs. I think it's a must do if you DIY oil changes.
On the subject of the drains mentioned above----- if they arn't too long they would fit just OK. I've bottomed out at low speed (off road ). Glad there was a heavy duty bumpskid there. I'll stick with the hex replacements I put in last oil change:)

J & S Jack with Spyder Adapter?

If you don't mind, where would I find these & How do you find the "Balance Point?" Thanks

Cleaner oil change?

Are you familier with 2012 RT with 998 engine? Any issue with these & the Spyder Pops bump steer? Thanks

What if.....

....we would use a 90 degree to install the valve horizontally....?

Another way to drain oil

I use a small plastic bottle that I cut on a miter and tape it to the bottom .
This allows the oil to drain with out a mess...The bottle I used was a pool
water sample bottle small enought no need to cut hole in the bottom...
