• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Magic Mirrors

No more lose mirrors!

Apparently done with very strong magnets. Looks like a great solution for bent mirror clips and rattling mirrors. I would sure consider buying these and the price isn't bad. Would like to see more info on how the conversion works.

Magic Mirror Mounts, Is it two in a package since every spyder comes with 2 mirrors, the word mounts is plural so I am assuming more than one.

or is mirror mount 1 for $99 and $198 for mirror mounts ?
:dontknow: The quantity button doesn't help either

X Ahh thanks for answering below, I will leave this till he updates his website, if I wasn't sure, then possibly others too:thumbup:

I've got them!! I've had a prototype set for test & eval for a few months now. And I reckon they are Bloody Brilliant!!

Rather than re-posting a lot of stuff that's already been posted here, there's a fair bit more about them in this thread:

http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/showthread.php?101008-2014-SPYDERrt-Limited-Mirrors

You just hafta read past the first posts & into the thread a bit. There are some recent comments & info from Merlot (who's the smart bloke who came up with the idea! ;) ) towards the end, & a couple of posts from me in the guts of it somewhere too.

Seriously, these things are a brilliant concept, simple in execution; they use magnets & some other simple bits in place of those flimsy placcy 'pellets', dodgy spring wires, & the pins of the OE mounts; & yet they make removing & replacing your RT Mirrors a breeze & they hold them solidly thru everything & anything! They have taken everything dished out to them during 'testing' without any issues at all & are a far better & more efficient solution for RT Mirror mounting than the OE 'pellets' will ever be! :2thumbs:

Check 'em out, I'm pretty sure that once you see them in action you'll want them; and once you get them, you'll never go back!

Ps: he's put a lot of development work & testing into these to get them 'right' & to make the kit comprehensive & easy to manage, and is only now just starting selling them in kit form; ONE kit contains all the necessary bits to replace both Left & Right OE Mirror Mounts; so you'll only need ONE $99 kit for each RT Spyder you own. ;)

Doc, this was discussed a couple weeks ago. The inventer has been posting here about them to answer questions. It may worth finding out if there is a patent that pertains to the magnet mount mirror setup, since it was his idea and he does market them.

I know I will be getting a set of them, probably at the east tn spyder rally in june. providing my mirrors don't fall off before then.

I asked questions and am satisfied with the answers. I ordered a set.

I will be taking the Fat White Chick apart in the next month or so anyway, so it seems like the right time to try these out.

Wow...!!

Looks like a perfect solution for all the RT guy's seeing as you have to remove the mirrors to put gas in them...:roflblack::roflblack: awesome...:2thumbs: should sell like hot cakes....

Well, not quite that bad, but close!

Posted the magic mirrors link on Facebook earlier today, good to see doc picking it up for this forum.

I believe the price is for a pair.

As Peter's link shows, it has passed the magpie strike on a freeway test! If I had an rt it would be on my list for sure - the mirrors were a real pain to remove and replace on my old st...

Wasn't planning on taking his product and producing it. I wouldn't do that to anyone. I came across it and missed it on here and was possibly interested in purchasing.

One thing I am not sure is that pulling force (like the wind) will be the same as vibration force on them, but if the our fellow ryders from down under developed them, they probably will work well on rough roads, as I hear they have a few. :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

Looked at these a few days ago, they were $77.00 then.

The price shown originally on his (Aussie) website was JUST for the Mirror Mounts, you then hadta pay for delivery, any exchange rates, etc - the current price shown on his website is inclusive of postage. If you want to visit him in Tas, Australia, you might still get them for about $75 - after all, Tassie is a wonderful place to visit any time of the year, but especially so about now! Lotsa good ryding too! ;)

They've stood up to everything so far, good roads, rough dirt roads, freeway speeds, rough highways at better'n freeway speeds (altho I did quit once we'd topped 160kph/100mph!) and even a full on Bird-strike - check out the other thread!!

While ryding at speed, I have even pulled a mirror back until the mirror glass is close to parallel to direction of travel (but with the 2 rear mounts still 'touching' their plates tho) & then let go, expecting to hafta catch the mirror as it fell off; but NO, it pulled right back into position & settled into the correct spot pretty much immediately!! And there's no vibration &/or wobbling like you get even with new OE mounts!

These things just WORK, & do it brilliantly! :ohyea: :2thumbs:

Yep we have rough roads - there is a 200km stretch on the main Sydney to Melbourne highway which kicks cruise off all the time - and that is one of our better highways !

The solution for our authorities is to put up a 'rough surface' sign and leave it there for years, one near me has been there for five years - sadly I'm not joking! If it gets really bad they leave the rough surface sign and lower the speed limit...

Could be why we all upgrade our shocks :sour:
