• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Low Fuel Warning Light

I only have about 400 miles on my Spyder. I was cruising down the highway about 65mph today and a warning light popped up. It was for low fuel and I had one bar left. I stopped shortly after to tank up. My Spyder only took about 4.5 gallons. This means I still had about two gallons left. Does this seem right?

I only have 200 miles on mine, but I just did the same thing. Light came on, pulled over to fill it up, took a little over four gallons.

You didn't have 2 gallons left, you had 1.5. The usable capacity of the Spyder tank is only 6.0 gallons...the rest is necessary head space or above the fill ring. The light normally comes on with around 1.5 gallons remaining.

Thanks. That lets me know that when the warning light comes on you still have 40+ miles available. I am never one to run tanks to their limit, but it is just good to know when out on the road.

Remember that the Spyder fuel mileage can be pretty variable under certain conditions. I wouldn't count on 40+ miles with 100% certainty.

Don't..!!

count on it with the low mileage you have. Once it breaks in mileage will change usually for the better. The best thing is to get gas as soon as you can after the light comes on...!! :lecturef_smilie:

No, until you get more familiar with your ride, when the light comes on, find the nearest station. Also, learn how to fill it up to the brim. I can get lots more into the tank than I could prior to running out of gas. I even carry a one-gallon fuel can in my frunk, but feel less need for it now that I'm experienced with my RT-S. ...Gnirtsnod (the 'G' is silent)

Digital fuel readings come from the Multifunction Display and eliminates the "bouncing fuel gauge" issue some have experienced.
The r/h side shows fuel level while the l/h side shows engine temp.

Pictures....And where did you purchase the digital fuel gauge ?:dontknow:

Here are some pics.

The digital gauges are visible as colored bars on either side of the central pod that is lit up. They can only be activated when the analog gauges are disconnected.

The analog gauges on my Spyder are now Voltmeter on the left and Oil Pressure on the right. I bought them from Summit Racing products for about $60 each.

I've got 444 on my 2012 RT-S, and I'm having the exact same problem. Low fuel warning, yet it only takes 3-4 gallons.

Figured I'd let my dealer know when I brought it in for it's 600 mile check.

6.00 gal, Thats the size of the tank not 6.60..., When the low light comes on you have approximately 1.5 gals left ..

Mine usually takes only 4.2 gallons and goes about 135 miles on that.

Does not have analog fuel gage

Rockwell, I hope you're not confused with the comments about analog and digital fuel gages. You only have a digital one. The RT folks get confused sometimes. :joke:
