While they certainly look to be better quality than the OEM placcy plug things that come in the wheels from the factory, 'Spikes' like that, or in fact, anything pointy or the slightest bit 'sharp' (& there's a definition of 'sharp' in our ADR's that involves something like 'any edge with a radius of less than 8mm', or something along those lines...) are not permitted on road going vehicles anywhere in Oz! :lecturef_smilie:
If you get sprung anywhere on public carriageways, parking lots, or roads with anything like that fitted to your vehicle here in Oz, it can result in any Police, Roads & Traffic Inspector, Ferry Operator, or Registration Authority issuing your vehicle with a 'Do Not Drive until Repair is carried out, Inspected, & Certified as Road-Worthy' Defect Notice that means you cannot drive it any further at all, not even to the nearest place of repair; that you need to flat-bed it home &/or to a repair place; and that once the repair/replacement is completed, will still require an Inspection to certify that entire vehicle is now fully road-worthy - and the inspection is usually a very meticulous 'fine tooth comb' type inspection for any & every possible failure to meet the strictest definition of our road-worthy standards, not just the wheel centres!! So fitting them & riding on-road in Oz could well cost you Thousands of $$ in flat-bed/trucking fees, repair/replacement fees, plus any Inspection Fees - especially since said flat-bed/trucking may entail fees for trucking it over a fairly long distance just to get it inspected by the appropriate Authority in order to get that Defect Notice lifted - and there's no guarantee that your vehicle will pass that inspection the first time around either, so you may need to take it away for further 'repairs' & then take it back for a second inspection.... or do that more than once!! :gaah:
So no matter how much anyone may like them, they're not legal for road use & so not a good investment for any Oz Spyders!! :banghead:
Hi Peter, i value every single of your comment every single of your answer on all of my posts and videos. Thank you for this.
I am very well aware of all what you have said, but if we will go this way, what is legal and what is not and what we can use and what not, then we can start with very simple top case light that i sell a lot to Australia, we can discuss if mirror locks can be used and they tight the mirrors and they will not shake, but if you hit somebody wiht the mirror you can make him / her more damage than with shaky mirrorrs,.
we can discuss legality of flag poles and they sharp edge
we can discuss legality of ram ball mounts and phone holders and hurts when you hit your handlebars
of course spikes are more "dangerous" but i realy dont think police comes to spyderlover because you have spikes on wheels as they dont stand out from the rims edge much.
they will stop by and look at bike because they are curious,. they will pull you over because of speed or bad behaviour on the road...
but again i wgot your point and i was super woried with this project... but we have it for 2 years and its working awesome on bikes
