• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Love/Hate relationship with my GoPro HD

one more question ,does yours come in 1080or just the 720 you shot in? Your box is slightly different from the companies web site.

Took the wife on a 200 mile BBQ run yesterday and this is a short video of part of the run. I had the camera mounted a little far back and I think that's why I got so much bounce. I'll move it forward next time, I just wanted to get the "SpyderLovers" decal in the pic. :doorag:

I think I've seen that dog before. Literally stopped me dead in my tracks.

I thought I was taking a video of our ride you may just end up with 9 seconds of video instead of two hours like I thought I had. :gaah:

Well I went to change the settings back the way they were on the GoPro and I feel REALLY stupid. nojoke
There was nothing wrong with the settings to start with, what I had was a low battery even though I thought I had it charged over night. I think what happened is I plugged in the charger in a dead outlet at the hotel and didn't know it. When I took it off the charger there was no light so I figured it was charged. To be honest I don't remember looking to see if the light came on in the first place so I'm guessing that's what I did. :gaah:

I still think the menu is hard to use on the GoPro and I have no regrets buying the Drift. I just bought a 4 hour battery for it and a charger that will plug into the power outlet in the rear trunk do I can keep one battery charged at all times. I got the external mic for it too but I'm not sure how I'm going to use it yet but I figure it will come in handy somewhere.

Just thought I would point out that sometimes it is a user issue. :opps:

Just an update on my Eye-Fi card. I went with a 4 gig to start with and I'm using it in my Point And Shoot camera and it's working out killer. I setup my two computers to download pics to and if the camera is on it will transfer the pics and video without me doing anything. It really is a nice feature.

You sure do get out there on the cutting edge of the latest new tech. I had a 30+ yr career in computer systems but now can barely keep up with all the fast moving capabilities that keep evolving.
Think I will keep life simple and stick to plugging cables to xfer the pictures!

Have you seen this Lamont?

[ame]http://www.amazon.com/Contour-GPS-ContourGPS-HD-Camera/dp/B00426DQ2W/ref=pd_cp_p_3[/ame]

i was looking at this camera. its small, has an iphone ap for remote setting of the camera settings...

HD 1080p with GPS so it will also record where you shot the video GPS coordinates for plotting on a map

I have and to be honest the Contour that I have now I don't use because of the sound is so bad. I just gave my GPS camera to my wife because I didn't use that feature as much as I thought I would.

Give it a try and tell us how you like it. I like the iphone app idea.

Drift HD170 memory?

About to bite the bullet :shemademe_smilie:(NOT!). E bay is around $260 (6/2/11). I have not seen what size video card (if any) the unit ships with. Can any current owners provide that info? Quicker to ask those that have one than on their site. Thanks. A.

It doesn't come with a card. I would go with a 16gig card class 4 or better.

:thumbup:Wow! Quick reply, thanks much. I am glad to find out it comes without one, as 'getting a new toy without batteries on Christmas' is really a downer. Again. TNX. A.

wow that is big...

one other I just saw on Amazon is:
[ame]http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004BDOLJI/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_1?pf_rd_p=486539851&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B004BDOLJS&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=1GJVMC0H2J4H442C60E8[/ame]

Oregon scientific. its waterproof without having to add an external box around the unit.

So far $310 at Amazon. Just be aware that the one Lamonster is using is the newer version... http://www.amazon.com/Drift-Innovation-Stealth-Recording-1-5-Inch/dp/B004L5AF4Q/ref=dp_ob_title_ce

Size reference...

This thread may be dead, but I thought I'd post a pic of my installation. From the "Spyders At Sea series:
Cool, and we get a good pic of you in the mirror. :2thumbs:

I see you're using the direct charging too. Look like a good spot for it.

I have been doing a lot of varied tests with the Drift Stealth and everything so far works as specd, but I am getting some of the same problems with the remote that Lamont had. It seems to work fine, sometimes, but then fails to turn off the cam at times. Hard to pin down when the remote/off is going to work or not.

Here's a shot taken with the Drift:
