• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Loud click on every shift

One of the things that impressed me greatly about the 2014 RT Limited (SE6) was the shifting. I thought I would NEVER have a paddle-shifter, until I test drove a couple. The quick, Formula 1/Porsche PDK shifts were accompanied by a rapid "burp" on both upshifts and downshifts. I bought one, and this impressive shifting continued for the first 100+ miles. Now, however, as soon as the oil heats up (first 100+ yards, or 4 or 5 shifts), shifting is accompanied by a loud, sheet-metal-like "clang" (not the Harley "clunk" at all). This continues on every upshift or downshift until I shut the machine down and let it cool off completely. The shifts are much slower (than in the demo rides, the first 100+ miles on this bike, and the first 4 or 5 "cold" shifts each day). Downshifts are also accompanied by a pronounced "lurch" forward. Of course, I checked the oil immediately (since it sounded like a dry transmission, to me), but the oil level is where it should be. The dealer (they are brand-new, and the service manager acknowledged he "doesn't know too much about Can-Ams") seems unworried. He guessed it was an artifact of the light break-in oil. Has anyone run into this? What does it sound like to you? I can't help being worried--not to mention annoyed at this cheap-sounding shifting.

You have described precisely the same way my 2014 RT SE6 shifts. First few shifts are fine. In less than a mile I get the clinking. I have found shifting at a low RPM helps but this is not what I expected after reading the numerous posts indicating how smooth the shifting is on the new SE6. Mine also downshifts as you described. I do not let off on the throttle when I shift and only tap the shift paddle. I have verified a proper oil level. I have written this off as this is just the way it is. Is it?

When I wear a full face helmet I can not hear the click
If I wear a open face helmet I can hear the click
I went to Arizona to visit friends and road a few miles without a helmet and was amazed at how well I could here the Click
IT is the Electric solenoid that actuates the hydraulic clutch
Mine is not real loud but it is there

I hear the "click" when shifting as well. Very distinct, audible click on most (sometimes I don't hear it) up shifts and every downshift into 1st gear. When I don't hear it it isn't because I just missed hearing it, it's because it didn't "click". Lately I've been a little annoyed by the clicking sound and have been purposely listening for it and sometime I don't hear it. Don't remember hearing it until after a few thousand miles on the Spyder (currently at about 9300 miles). Mentioned it to my dealer and they included checking it on the current work order...my Spyder is in the shop for an oil leak repair.

My naivete astounds me. The break-in oil is a myth? The service manager just made that up?!

Like yours, mine shifts with a "clang" not just a click. Downshifting is accompanied by the same clang. It's far from smooth shifting. I guess I'll bring it to the dealer so they can tell me they can't find anything or they are all like that.

Sort of..!!

They do put oil in these engines and fire them up (need to know if they work)..run them through their paces and then drain them for shipping. Now you could call that the break in oil but the oil you have in your machine when delivered is the real stuff and when you change it (if they do) you will get the same oil...
