Lost my best friend

I am overwelmed by all the sincere heartfelt thoughts and well wishes.
We all go through rough times no matter what it is. This site brings us all together from all over the world. Between a dog and the Spyder, great things can happen.Thank you everyone.

I once heard it said: "I want to be the man my dog thinks I am"

Billy Graham was asked many years ago if animals will go to heaven. His reply; "if it makes you happy, yes there will be animals in Heaven". I'm looking forward to seeing: Big Boy, Poogie, and Jesse again one-of-these-days.

Sadness will turn to happy memories but it'll take awhile.

God bless!

Very Sorry

Folks who are not "dog people" don't understand how deeply we connect with these guys. I am very sorry about your buddy. I feel your grief, as I have gone through it several times as well. If only dogs had the same lifespan as we do, it would be a lot easier on all of us. :(

I'm a dog lover too... I have had four Boxers and my first Boxer passed away several years ago and I got a tattoo with her name, and my other dog's names, along with a portrait of a Boxer after she passed away.

Your buddy is running free and waiting for you at the Rainbow Bridge. So sorry to hear about your friend. :(

I had to let my best friend (Smokie aka Smokster)of 10 years go yesterday. He has been the most loyal companion I have ever had. He went to many mountain ranges, camping/ hiking trips. He was by my side 24/7. If anyone knows the queensland healer, they are so dedicated to their owners. He was protective, sensitive, quarky and so many other attributes.
He was given 3 months to live and lasted almost 9 1/2 months and ended up dying 3 days after his 10th birthday. I will miss him so very much.

I cannot keep his picture and forum name of Smokster for the reason that it makes me hurt so much. When the time comes and I get a new name, I will let you all know.

For now, I just try for each new day and no my buddy is not in pain and is playing tennis ball somewhere special.

Sorry to be such a mush to all of you, but alot of have been so good to me and have become the best of friends.

I'm so sorry for your loss of Smokie! Pets are FAMILY and it's just as hard accepting their passing as it is a family member. Sometimes it's even harder. Around 3 weeks ago we had to say goodbye to our kitty - Maxine. She was born with problems and lived to be 10 yrs old. We took her to the vet thinking they'd fix her right up and when they told us there really were no good options, we were shocked. Very very hard. We weren't expecting it since she's pulled through everything before - I can tell ya stories!

We got another kitty though. She won't replace Maxine but things happen for a reason. A friend of ours couldn't keep her cat and needed a home for it pretty much on the spot. So we took it - it was a chance to give another pet a home, instead of it being brought to the pound and she's very different than Maxine so it doesn't seem so bad. And I know Maxine would have wanted it that way.

The way I think of it where I won't cry anymore is to know that Maxine is very happy in Heaven now - she is all better, not suffering, chasing mice and catching birds. And I'll see her again if I behave and get to Heaven someday.

Dogs are so awesome, they ask for so little yet give us so much! Sorry for your loss. Why do dogs have such a short lifespan?

Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

That made me cry

We understand. We lost our 15yo Aussie a year ago. There is still a hole in the house, even tho we still have his niece.

We are thinking of you.

Thank you again for all the kind words and PM messages. People have convinced me to keep the name Smokster in his memory. Smokie was all about the adventure, so Smokster will live on. By the way, the name Smokster came from Smokie and Roadster, hence Smokster
Thank you again.

Very sorry to read about the loss of your great friend. As I get older, I find myself outliving some of my very best four-pawed friends as well. We are a very pet friendly family (even the spiders & crickets) get set free.
I like to feel that even with all the pain of the loss, I think knowing that we are able to provide a love-filled life along with walks, mountain hikes, trips to the beach etc. it's all worth it.
We have a white rescue Boxer, and she has truly defied the odds. She's going on 11, and has all the scars to prove it.
We value every day with her.

I too know how you feel. Time does help, but I'll never forget any of mine that have gone before me. The Rainbow Bridge really does help.

Completely Understand.

So, so ..........sorry about your beloved companion. Lost Ralf... our clown, best friend, bedhog, playmate and loyal pup 7 Years ago. He was half setter-half rottie. Still rips my heart out just to think of the day I had to put him down. Will have another dog again, but it will be awhile. He was the best dog we ever had. Hopefully time will heal all of us who have lost our best friends (literally)!!
