• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. At some point in my ride today, I lost all rear lights... Spyder never went into limp mode until 3 miles from home (After about 300 miles)... ABS Fault - Limp mode home...

No time to mess with it tonight... But open to suggestions. Going to rotate relays tomorrow.

First limp mode in almost 18,000 miles so I'm not mad, just glad it got me home.

I bet the 10 AMP fuse for the License plate light got shorted and that knocks out the brake lights too?
It happened to me . Good guess anyway?

Check..

Check F7 fuse (10 amp), located in front fuse box. power goes thru fuse, wiring, ignition switch, wiring to various lights.

Happened to me as well ... try the 10 amp fuse ....spares are in the fuse cap .... good place to start ...easy fix

I might add that if you find a blown fuse, you will need to track down the short. The wire going to the license plate light can rub against the tire and short out, but there are other possibilities.

+1 That is exactly what happened to me. It blew the fuse (more than once) until I tracked down the bad wire.

Found the problem.... Short wasn't inside the rear fender like I thought...

It was the socket on the new Cat Eye light I put on the rear fender to replace the stock assembly that fell apart. http://www.jpcycles.com/product/3400105

Very strange... both wires feeding the lamp socket inside that Cat Eye light broke and shorted where they enter the socket... have another on order... and will silicone the area they enter the socket this next time.

Took me long enough to get to it... Been busy.

Glad that you found it and a fix is gathering momentum...
Any idea why those wires would break like that?

Only thing I can think of is vibration coupled with a poor quality part. I think silicone will prevent it from happening again.

It took so long to get to as I was busy with work and family, but mainly because I thought the short was in the wiring behind the fender... Spyderwolf had the same issue and with the same light as mine, and his short required taking the fender off to get to... I didn't relish doing that so I sat on it for the longest time. Stupid me...

At least I can ride during the day until my new light comes in. :D
