• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Looking for help again!

I was contacted from a guy in California wanting to buy my 2014 RTS SE6, wanted to know if it would be legal there? told him I am not sure, but I knew I could find out from you people! Appreciate any input, Thanks, Jym

Wondering why it would not be legal for sale in California?

Aren't most vehicles 50 state compliant these days except a few exotic cars?

it has to say it has California emissions installed. Otherwise he won't be able to register it -- Yes. Really.
If a vehicle was not originally sold in California, you will be in for a very surprising and irritating ride. Really. I am frequently a smart a$$. But this is for real.

A lot of the manufacturers have different models for California and the rest of the states for certain bikes in their line-up. The EPA label on the bike will tell you if it is compliant with California specs. The statement would read something like "This vehicle conforms with US EPA and California regulations applicable...."

I live in California....have all my life...and let me say tis is really messed up. It is true, that you can't register it here. Think of California as a foreign country...it is the only way to make sense of this state.

It's legal in California it's in your manual under technical information, and in the warranty section.
It MUST be on the sticker on the bike. The sticker VIN MUST match the vehicle VIN. The buyer will need to remove enough tuberware so the DMV clerk can easily check both. Just because it is in the manual, or on the warranty is meaningless to the DMV.

These DMV guys are sticklers. http://dmv.ca.gov/pubs/brochures/fast_facts/ffvr29.htm
Not all vehicles sold in other states can be registered here.

yea

but watch the taxes and fees when registering it in this state. Even though it is california compliant they tax the heck out of you for daring to buy out of state. Some have managed to have them sent to dealers here so it appears it was bought here. :lecturef_smilie:

The stickers under the seat....it shows it's location in the manual!

CA

ca is definitely the land of fruits and nutz when it comes down to vehicular emissions standards.

i remember back in the sixties when I was a GM Parts Manager we had a CA Chevrolet owner come in with a relatively new car. It was under warranty. The muffler on the CARB air pump blew off and I had a nightmare finding a replacement to get him back on the road.oo

I thought California was another country. Closest I ever got was Las Vegas. I almost got stationed there :yikes:.

Hmmmm A man in California wants to buy a Spyder in Florida? Someone has to travel 3,500 or so miles or pay shipping costs....like there are no Spyders in CA?? Get cash!

:spyder2:
