• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Locking your helmet - Another (inexpensive) alternative

I came up with a different way to lock helmets when the Frunk is unavailable. I bought a piece of cable from the local hardware store and looped it and secured it under the seat. When not in use the end that secures to the D-ring rests next to the passenger seat. Then I use the carabiner lock to secure the helmet. I left enough slack that if my wife is riding the cable passes through her D-ring with her helmet on the back seat and the loop and carabiner locks on my helmet on the front seat.

Just another idea.

Great Idea ! That wil be a cheap fix too ! :2thumbs: My #2 disappointment in my 2015 Spyder RTS is that a Full Face helmet will not fit in the side compartments. #1 is not having a factory Bluetooth to the AUX in the radio system.

Suggestion...

I have been using the cable system for years (kryptonite retractable) and lock both helmet to the grab bar on our RS. My suggestion is run the cable through the face /chin guard rather than the D rings. Most helmets are stolen by cutting the rings/straps wich can be easily replaced but removing or breaking the chin guard takes time and ruins the helmet.. Jmo...

I've used the cable system on a number of bikes. Picked up a 3ft cable, looped at both ends, and use it for helmet, jacket, or most recently, the Kurikan Pet Palace. The cable is not infallible but it makes the grab and run type of theft a bit more difficult.

Any ideas on a 3/4 helmet when the D rings have bee replaced with the quick release?

It is possible to use the quick release's without removing the D rings. If you use the smaller cable, you can slide it thru the strap that the quick release attached to, but, if you cut your straps, then that's another problem.

helmet holder

I have been using the helmet graurdian for ten years or so on a variety of machines. designed to hold two helmets and lock them in place. Available at a number of sources.

:hun: That's odd... I've been using a quick-release on my helmets for over 20 years, and have yet to remove a D-ring. :dontknow:
The only helmet that ever gave me issues, was a BMW modular that came with a quick-release, and had no D-rings from the start.
