• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Lightning Strike

:D So you're sitting by the river: trying to catch some supper...
The beer is cold, and the Weather is hot...
When all of the sudden: :yikes:

It kind of makes you want to buy your fish at the grocery store; doesn't it?

I ain't scared of no stink'n lighting!!!

And for the record, that wasn't lightning.

What the heck was that? Sure wasn't lightning. Controlled explosive maybe?

When I first saw the flash: I thought that this strike simply originated from quite a distance away. (Accounting for the low angle).
Once I got the video stopped in the right place: (:banghead:), I can see that it doesn't extend above the ground...

They got me! :D

Gotta say...

It does look more like an explosion than a lightning strike for the most part because there does not seem to be any weather....:dontknow: but if they had any blockage it is clear now....:yikes:

Agree, this particular one does not appear to be lightning.

However...from the days when I used to do wilderness canoeing. We camped on a very picturesque lake that had a couple of bluff type rock formations on the far shoreline. This was a "designated" camp site area. We decided to avail ourselves of the campsite.

A storm rolled through, complete with thunder and lightning. The lightning struck about 6 feet away from the tent. A true brown shorts moment for me. No more high campsites for me after that one. :sour::sour:

More "Shocking Developments" in the story of "Mother Nature's Greatest Hits!"

Now that was awesome. Wonder who's bright idea it was to have a wedding in a thunder storm holding lightening rods. Behold the power of a woman is nothing compared to those lightening bolts.

This is basically what it was.

I don't know what they were using in the water but at the mine I worked at they used Anfo (diesel fuel and fertilizer) as the main explosive, a bag of slurry (mixture to accelerate the explosion) which had a blasting cap inserted into it. This was set off in a series in conjunction with all of the other shots so that it would cause a wave in the ground which was very effective at breaking up the rock before mining.
