• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I've decided that I'm buying a MC Jack from Harbor Freight. I'll have a way to move it around and it will actually cost less than two sets of the dollies!
 
Lifting my 2012 RT with MC Jack?

Could somebody give me an idea about where I would do the test lifting to maintain some sembelance of balance? Thanks
 
Balance

Slide the Jack under the Spyder from the left side. Have the rear most Jack rail directly under the driver's foot peg. This should put the rail near the rear shock. Look underneath to confirm. Start lifting.
 
I drive the spyders' front wheels up on a couple pieces of 2X8s to provide a little extra room before lifting. Then I slide the jack in and always look underneath to make sure the jack rails will be in contact with the bikes' frame and nothing else.....
 
I use the Harbor Freight Lift and am comfortable with it for light maintenance. I add jack stands for any heavy torquing or prolonged work. I would not feel very comfortable moving the bike around much on the lift. I would suggest lifting the bike and lowering it on to 3 dollys when moving the bike. HF has relatively inexpensive moving dollys that would do the job easily. Good Luck.....
 
It's trial and error....

Will depend a lot on what you have in the storage compartments. Your best is to start as stated above and if the wheels do not come of fairly even put her down and move the lift over a bit...A stands are also a very good Idea as you may find a loss of balance if you start taking things off....like the rear wheel...:yikes:

I recently opted for a Craftsman jack like Gene's because my son's HF lift does not have a smooth release letting the bike down and he's lifting a much lighter BMW RT1200 GSA than a Spyder RT.
 
Many here have success with the Harbor Freight lifts, myself included. I do set it down on jack stands for the working though. And I have rolled the Spyder into its storage space in my garage with no issues.

I got one of them last year and used it to work on my RT. Since then it has been sitting. A couple of weeks ago, I noticed it pissed all its oil on the floor. You might want to spend a few more bucks and get something better or at least buy their warranty. QC on the thing left a lot to be desired.
