There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Uclear 200

My wife and I use the Uclear 200 units. What I love is not having a separate microphone. It is built into the earphones, and the units seem to work well for phone calls, intercom, music etc.

brp intercom system

Don't buy the BRP intercom system its a piece of crap poor sound ,poor quality , cb don't work well a another waste of money for BRP

Color me luck then. Because all of it works well on mine.

:agree:

Being hard wired has been the best set up for me as far as quality of sound, intercom, CB and music. I don't like the fact that I can't answer my iPhone with that option.

Sorry Randy, doesn't answer your questions :banghead:

After further research I think any scala rider is out. After learning more about these, you can't use earbuds with any scala product unless you jerry rig it. You have to use the helmet speakers. I need my music to sound great so the helmet speakers will not even come close to the quaility of sound earbuds will give.

So I guess my only option is to purchase the Smh10 with the optional earbud helmet clamp (30.00 each) and go that route. From what I have read I'm a little concerned..... They say sena's earbud helmet clamp works great for awhile but breaks because of the terrible design of the earbud jack. It rips the wires after a short amount of time. Any testimonials with this sena earbud helmet adapter ?????

RE: Scala/Cardo There have been 3 iterations. The Q-2 has a range of 1640 feet or so. The Q-4 increased the range up to one mile and could be paired with an additional Cardo unit. The Q-9 still have the mile range, but can be paired with up to four or so, additional Cardo units.

There are still Cardo Q-2's to be found, but I don't think they are being manufactured any more.

I cannot speak to your questions with the bluetooth stuff--I never used that with my Q-2's.

This season I switched over to Sena SMH10's. I find the range to be better than the Q'2 and the reception to and from the other unit is more clear.

Randy. I don't know if this will help you. I was a novice as well when I began to research communication replacement setup for the two of us. We have been using "Blue Ant" since 2009 and it was time for music, mp3, and intercom with the availablity of power for the headsets during long trips. I also wanted to go XM Sirius radio for music.

Here is our setup and the test run will be done this week on our trip to the BBQ and Owners Event.

I have a 2012 RS that I have added two 12V outlets to power my Sena SMH10 Intercom and Headset. I am also adding power for the Sena Dongle to Bluetooth the Intercom, and XM music to Gary who is riding ahead of me on his RT. I dropped some money to buy the Garmin 665 which has an XM radio capability. We have completed the setup and will hit the road on Monday. I am extremely pleased with the testing on the Garmin XM reception. The cutout has been minimal. We will be checking reception distance and use of all the functions inroute. Have not hooked up MP3 or bluetooth phones yet but those options are there as well. The Garmin is a direct hardwire to the battery and the connector cable has options for audio connection for other devices.

I am still a beginner so this where I am on the learning curve. Hope it helps

Randy,

If you have any interest in using the corded connection to the scala q2 for your mp3 player, you'll need something like this:

http://helmetaudio.com/khxc/index.p...=TORKAMP&sid=0r3of5z6mwdd1e88vbmael7q0nxi3122

Otherwise, you'll barely hear the music.

I still think the wired systems offer the greatest flexibility. Starcom1 is our choice, but the Autocom and Baehr units are also top notch.

If you're going wireless.... the Sena is the only way to go. Period. Tried the other brands, they pale in comparison to the Sena.

I've got a box of Cardo's and other brands that just didn't cut the muster.

What do we do

I'm not too concerned about range of the Q2, but only if the music fades in and out when speaking to the passenger (like the G9 that Chupaca mentioned).

If it does, than thats the best bang for the buck(for my needs) out there since the sena smh5 does not have the cord feature.

If the music doesn't fade in and out on the Q2 than I will have to spend the extra money on either the G9 or the SMh10. If music does not fade in and out when speaking to passenger on the Smh10 like it does on the G9, than my decsion is a easy one........... G9 would be the only unit out there for my needs.

What do we do if we got our spyder loaded with the cb, sirious satellite radio and communication package. We constantly lose communication where one cannot hear the other. What might be the issue here. many with all of these options when purchased have this issue. Thanks

I couldn't agree more, I too have the Cardo's sitting in a box. The Sena's have satisfied my needs.

SENA SMH 10R?

We use the SPH 10 which is the same model except designed to fit on half helmets.

The mount to the helmet is well designed with a velcroed tab that slides up between the helmet outer shell and lining to hold it in place.

Anyway, we bought the SENA units after a couple of years with Cardo units that were not the most reliable at times and very difficult to set and control. The SENA is a very simple..... push two buttons to turn on and off and push one button to activate. The microphone is voice activated and very clear between riders. My wife can be about a mile in front of me and we still can communicate well.

Battery life is better than the Cardo with 7-8 hours between charges.

Only two complaints after six months of regular use:

- The input terminal on the device for charging is difficult to access and requires a bright light to get the cord in the right place
- The mikes are super sensitive and will pick up background noise such as the Spyder's front speakers or GPS sound

The Sena SMH10 is an auto switch, it your passenger speaks your music fades out. You can set it to auto connect by voice or can set it that your passenger has to toggle to connect with you. This is true if your connected by Bluetooth or wire to use your music( iPod, phone) etc...

Hope that helps. :)

This is just the ticket for you

I have had about a ZILLION people ask me if they will ever come out with
the new slim line SENA in a dual pack..... well here you go
NEW TODAY FROM SENA
Call me now to order yours tonight or in the morning.
Thanks a million to everyone of my loyal customers & fellow SPYDER RIDERS

I'm getting to the point where I need to communicate with my passenger but do not want to give up my music and I'm finding it difficult to learn how all the features work.

I'm researching the Scala Rider Q2 for our full face helmets and have a few questions....Sorry if this thread is in the wrong spot, I didn't know where to put it.

Can A MP3 player be plugged in and Communicate with the passenger at the same time ????
Does the MP3 music cut out if either of us speaks into the mic ????

Can the GPS bluetooth deliver directions and communicate with passenger at the same time ????
Will the passenger hear the direction to ???

Phone and communicate with passenger at the same time ????? Answered No
If so, will the passenger hear my phone call ????------- Answered No

Does the wind noise constantly come through the Helmet speakers via the mic ????

Can any scala Q2 talk to us or is it just one headset linked at a time ???? ----Answered (3 total)

If so... Can the third rider be linked to to our headsets and we all talk at the same time to each other or do we have to switch to a seperate channel for the third headset ????

Is there better units out there with corded MP3 compatability for the price range of the Scala Rider Q2 ???

Wow..... I feel like a newbie here with all these questions , but I never learned about headsets and now I want them. :opps::opps:

I have a set and my wife's came apart on the Spyderfest trip. Mine is still intact. I think if care is exercised it should last a awhile. I had purchased a scala set initially but I couldn't get it to pair up, the controls were too complicated and even though I had the speakers maxed out I couldn't hear. I think I'll reinforce the wiring a little with some high tech electrical tape or a heatshrink sleeve. When it gives out I'll kick down for a new one. My biggest gripe about my music is that it distorts at times which has more to do with my ear bud selection and zumo 660.

This is what I chose
http://www.ebay.com/itm/130857848881?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

I streams A2DP, answers phone calls. I can run Google maps and music at the same time from my phone and it works perfectly music drops when directions start. Sounds great (will blow your ear drums out if you want). The wife can pair to her phone and listen to her music while I rock :2thumbs: one button push and intercom takes over after talk it auto reverts back to music (same with phone). What is not to like about it? Oh the price is right too. Mounting is easy has a clip mount that allows the unit to dismount for charging. Put my & wife's phone on charge in the trunk with a splitter and we are good to go. It auto answers the phone after 8 sec or you can reject calls too.
