• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Leaning Right

Took the new 2013 RT-S in for first service. When we got there my wife who had followed me said the bike was leaning. I didn't think much of it nor did the dealer. But on examination they say it is leaning. They can't figure why but factory wants them to swap a shock. Anyone see this before?

Sure a Heim Joint didn't break? Got set of new shocks on my RT Saturday.

I hahe d the shocks replaced on my 2013 also. Like Tex said the heim link could be the culprit but I would think that your dealer would have known to check that.

If one or both Heim joints is broken, it will not cause the bike to lean. Something else is wrong. If the Heim joints are mis-matched, that could cause the problem. However, that would seem very unlikely.

Maybe....

Check the shock adjustment?

Bad shocks, or a bad Heim joint...
Those are about the only two possibilities that are reasonable.
And both have shown up as issues for the 2013 bikes.
Good Luck!
...And your Wife is VERY observant!! Kudos to her! :firstplace:

So, how much change did you have in your pocket? :joke:

Seriously, there is something wrong, and suggest you have them check the items posted above.

A broken Heim Joint Link will not make your Spyder lean unless the sway bar bushings are WAY TOO Tight!

It's either a shock or a ball joint issue or both.

Say..!!

how flat was the right tire anyway..!! :roflblack::roflblack: pot hole..what pot hole..?? :roflblack::roflblack: hope they find the problem. I think we all would like to know..

Well a week out of town and dealer STILL has the Spyder :-( They "think" I might get it back today (yesterday was 2 weeks). I am trying not to tick them off since there aren't really any other convenient dealerships unless you count the branch south which is the same company. At this point the tally is I had the Spyder 18 days and they have had it 11 days. :-(

Just venting.

Do they have a reason for the lean?

Pro Powersports in Conroe, TX is about an hour north of you and has had good reviews from Spyderlovers members. Wild West Honda in Katy, TX is even closer and has also had good reviews here. You might want to try one of them in the future.

Woot! Got it back this afternoon. Rides better. For one, the low idle seems smoother. They did the stabilizer bar recall and that seems to be much better on curves. Or maybe it is because they fixed the lean. The resolution was to pull a shock off a unit in a crate and replace it. They said the shock "looked" fine but when it was on it was definitely letting the bike sink to that side.

It was GOOD to be back on the road. Unfortunately, dinner plans tonight and in a week I'm gone on a fairly lengthy biz trip so I'd say I better get my butt in the saddle tomorrow!

Yeah I'm familiar with both of them although both are over an hour one way from me (in Galveston County). I think there is a dealer in Baytown too -- at least they sell Sea Doo I think. That isn't that close either, but isn't as far as Pro or WW.

It isn't likely that the shock was the problem as shocks don't support the weight of the bike. However, there seems to be quite a variety of springs for the front end of various Spyders. I wonder if an incorrect one got installed at the factory.

They swear up and down it was the shock. It does seem like the service invoice mentioned a cap spring or something, but I may be wrong. I'll have to check later.

Rabtech had shock issues with his bike.
I'm pretty sure that he could easily explain what was going on with them for you...
