I was given my 60 day notice today that my position was being eliminated.

Can't really complain much. I'm not mad, bitter or anything of the sort. It is what it is and you can't really stew over something that you can't control. I work for a large company and sometimes they pick your number and it is time to go.

That said, I always said that if this happened to me, I would be able to take a guilt free motorcycle journey. I've prepared for this moment for years from a finance perspective. I'm not rich, but I have enough solvent funds to weather this and more so why not Ryde? No email to check while I'm out for a few weeks, no inbox nightmare when I return. Golden opportunity if you ask me.

I just won't be able to get some of the other gizmos for the Spyder that I was planning on so soon.

So... I guess if I don't find a new position or a new job by April 30th, I'll be ryding around and seeing some of you perhaps.

I'm not posting this for sympathy though any silent prayers and job leads are always appreciated. If you happen to know of a company who needs an experienced, and good looking:roflblack: sales engineer, you know where to find me.

I know you said you are not looking for sympathy but I am sorry to hear you lost your job. You do have a wonderful outlook though, and it seems you have done some responsible planning. I pray you find a job, AFTER your riding adventure. Enjoy it and be guilt free. Come to Michigan, we can always find some riders up here to head out with you.

I too received my 60 day lay-off notice, and with 22 successful years with the same company I AM sorta bitter about it. But you are absolutely right - "it is what it is," large companies often and frequently do stupid things, and there's not much one can do about it.

You are also right that this is an opportunity to take some much needed and DESERVED time away from the business world to take a good long motorcycle ride.
