• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. KIRKET BELT TENSION

ON A 2015 ST SE5 998 ENG. WHAT SHOULD KIRKET GUAGE READ IN MIDDLE OF THE BELT, I AM AT 185 WHEEL ON GROUND OR OFF .

THANKS STEVE

Not bad.....

If you can twist the belt by hand 180 degrees (half circle) without too much force you should be in the ballpark. Some spyders vibrate at different speeds/RPM so minor adjustments in belt tension can move the vibration point. Play with it a little bit and find your sweet spot. Mine is a 1330 and 200/210 was my best spot. Get Doc's dampener and it helps a bunch.

On or Off the ground reading CAN NOT be the same ..... Off the ground folks claim is more accurate ..... However if you then lower Spyder to the ground and take that reading The difference will be that ALL the time.... How many people take the time to jack up the Spyder EVERY time they want a reading .... If they believe it's the ONLY way - I bet they NEVER take a reading .....I have my RT belt at 160lbs. on the ground ....I no longer have any Belt VIBES ...I don't have the spring tensioner .........good luck ...... the one thing that keeps popping up in in my head is, nothing is ever mentioned
about the belt being hot or cold when checked . on my victory they wanted it dead cold, overnight preferably.
was always told with the belt components, it actually gets tighter when hot. what say the
spyder gurus? have been meaning to ask this for over 2 years.

Agree and agree...

BLUEKNIGHT911
:agree: on the measurement on the ground and around 160lbs on the Krikit...
Irvin48
:agree: should measure at the same temp for a more accurate reading.

Best done on the pre-check prior to a long ryde..you know...gas, tires, coolant, oil, belt tension and liquid refreshment in the cup holder....:roflblack:

I know that before I properly tensioned my belt the vibration seemed to get worse as the belt warmed up.

got the belt on my 2012 rts set at 160, which is spec. belt vibration will numb your feet.

There is a Can Am service tip to lower the belt to 140 as the belt reverberation seems to happen at lower speeds with lower tension. And we don't notice it when going 40 MPH. Some seem to have issues more than others. I have a friend with a 2015 RTL who swears his is smooth at all speeds. I have had to "play" with mine to get it acceptable. Belt alignment and tire alignment are also an important part of the equation. Once it is all set correctly, you will be happy. Good luck.....

I have a 2018 RTL ,with about 1500 km .Never felt any vib till yesterday. When passing at 120 km or so ,it would vib bad and sure felt like in the belt area. Felt like running on a rumble strip . Is this what others are complaining about ?:(
