• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Juuuust missed hitting a Deer! Great brakes on these things!

Deer...Sore subject
Two years ago, returning from a northern Michigan trip and traveling on I-75 @73mph with my BMW R1200RT on cruise control.
2 deer suddenly exploded from the trees in the medium and onto the roadway. I hit the second one. The next thing I remember is sliding down the pavement
to a rolling stop. For some unexplained reason , not injured thanks in part to ATGATT .The bike and deer...not so much.
This all happened in an instant with no time to react because the cruise control never disengaged and the bike continued down the road for another 300 yards.

I guess if anything good came from this, at least it got me on a Spyder!

I personally have lost 3 acquaintances to deer. One was in a car. It came through the windshield.
In Wisconsin, another bad time is in spring when the deer flies come alive. Deer will come running out of cover without warning.

I had a buddy who was killed by a deer that came through his windshield. Only thing was, he didn't hit the deer. It bounced off a car that was coming the other direction, then he hit it while it was still airborne, coming through his windshield.

I was going home from work at the end of second shift and saw three cars on the side of the road. All I could tell was there had been a wreck and that some of the people standing there had cell phones so I didn't stop. Found out the next day it was my buddy.

Glad you missed them. Here we have the usual whitetails and the dogs sized Sika. This time of the year the whitetails are coming out of every corn field every morning and evening. The Sika are more anti-social. I do not see them very often. However, just recently while riding through a local NWR, I smaller than usual Sika came to side of the road, I slowed, she jogged beside me for about a 1/4 mile. Quite a beautiful little deer. Their behavior is generally to go back into the woods unlike the whitetail that like to challenge motor vehicles.

When you see one always be ready for the second, or third, or more, deer. Deer do not travel solitary.

This! Deer are communal animals, where there is one there are more. When I see the first one I slow the heck down and my eyeballs get very wide for the next few minutes. They are also dumb as a brick.
