Today I inspected the air filter element on my new-to-me RS. The seller assured me that major service had just been performed, but I wanted to verify. Removing the tupperware to access the airbox was straight forward. All of the fasteners were arranged logically and it was fairly intuitive. Getting the top of the airbox off wasn't as difficult as I thought it might be. Yes, there's tight clearance as the top is close to the frame spine and intake trumpets inside the cover need to be cleared, but careful maneuvering had it out in short order.
I was pleased to find what appeared to be a new air filter element inside. When I removed the element for inspection I found something I didn't expect. Apparently some critter - mouse, chipmunk or whatever - found it's way through the intake snorkles and was using the airbox as a food cache. Fruit Loops cereal, pasta and corn chips were in the airbox under the filter. I eventually removed nearly a cup of stuff!
You never know what you might find until you look.
