OK, what is the coldest ambient air temperature that you've riden your :spyder2: with just layers on (with none of the fancy heated gear) and still felt remotely comfortable? It is unseasonably cold here in N.E. Ohio and I just don't want to put her up. On the other hand, I don't want to be out there looking like a crazy guy :shocked::shocked::shocked: either!!!

Minnesota, in January of 1964. 10 Degrees below zero. Pre Spyder days. That was pretty cold. These days, I will ride down to about 15 above zero. Ice conditions permitting of course. :thumbup:

I'll go to 35 with jacket and jeans.
25 with Firstgear Thermo's.
Below that I park it.

Twenty degrees (on the spyder). First gear jacket, first gear overpants and winter gloves. Heated grips on low.. Was very comfortable. Rider protection from the elements is an area the RT excells in.

Have riden in colder weather....but different bike.

Ride when you can.

For a longterm Type-I Diabetic; my limits are about pushed in the 26 to 28 degree range. No real circulation in my lower extremities, and no feeling below the knees; regardless of the temperature... :shocked:
An old snowmobile set, or my riding jacket with a set of insulated wrap- on chaps seems to keep the icy blasts at bay! :thumbup:

15 degrees the first winter on my 2010 RT. Now this is my 3rd winter and once it hits 32 I don't ride. Lucky, here in Arkansas when it hits 32 in the AM that usually means 45 degrees by 2 PM. So I can be found running around the area most afternoons unless I'm on the golf course. :yes:

On my Spyder the coldest has been 21 F on my 83 Goldwing 14 F.

Eight degrees last Feb. on a 250 mile round trip to Idaho Falls. Wondered about my sanity at the time. I ride all year if the roads are dry. Cheers

back in the 50s i rode in the 20s now that im older as you can tell a lot of you were not even around in the 50s so now i like at least 50 and no wet roads .:chat:

BajaRon has a FirstGear Thermo Riding Suit on Sale right now which I HIGHLY recommend

We've done hundred mile trips at Interstate speeds down to a low of about 18F with just a few layers (long sleeve shirt/sweat shirt & jeans) under my FirstGear Thermo Riding Suit that you can get from BajaRon, and I enjoyed the trip. Its not electric or powered and does a really good job at keeping you warm :2thumbs: Have ridden shorter rydes around town down to 10 degrees, so I guess I'd say that's been about our lowest temp. to ryde in

By the way, we live in Cincy so I'd say our climate is very similar to yours with the exception that you probably get alot more lake effect snow than we do

20F. Mil Spec long underwear and boot socks, genes, chaps, long sleeve shirt, insulated vest under riding jacket, insulated gauntlet gloves, 3/4 helmet with face mask, heated grips.

Don't forget to factor in the windchill. 60mph at 20F = -4F.

Hydrate well. Cold air depletes body fluid rapidly.

Only ridden down to 35 deg. wearing the First Gear Thermal suit and was toasty warm.

So far 35 degrees with first gear thermal suite and heated gloves. Neck got cold but chest down was extremely warm......I actually sweated a bit
