ISCI handbrake and Bumpskid

Spent the day installing my christmas mods, an ISCI handbrake and a Spyderpops Bumpskid for my RSS. Neither went very smoothly.

Bought the handbrake used and it didn't come with the bolts or clevis pin. Had to run around town but managed to find the stuff I needed to make it work.

The bumpskid was not a fun project. The bolts for the side braces have a smaller diameter head than the stock panel bolts, so it didn't cover the circle mark on the panel. I found some washers to cover up the markings from the original panel bolts. The bolts for the front braces were time consuming because there is very little room to get a wrench in there. Put the bottom plate on and two of the threaded front braces stripped. Then things really got fun when the side braces wouldn't line up with the bottom plate. Edit: Apparently, I'm a dumb *** and can't read directions. I had the side braces installed incorrectly and couldn't figure out why they didn't line up. I spoke with Harvey at Spyderpops and he explained what I did wrong. He is sending me new brackets to replace the ones I screwed up.

Anyway, I'm done whining. Love the handbrake and the bumpskid looks awesome. Harvey is top notch! Very quick to respond and really took care of me.

Been talking to Harvey at Spyderpops. It seems the brackets may have been installed incorrectly. He is going to send some new brackets and I'll take another stab at it. Instructions said to just bolt the side brackets to the outside of the metal brackets, but apparent they have to flip over the metal brackets somehow. Very impressed with how responsive and helpful Harvey has been! Will get pics up this evening.

Confirmed that I installed the side brackets incorrectly. I have edited my original post to reflect my stupidity.

I removed the handbrake from one bike to put it on my new one. I left the clevis pins on the old bike so the regular brake was still functional. I found replacement parts at Fastenal. These parts (clevis pins and cotter pins) are stainless steel and I recommend replacement with the same. Who needs rust or corrosion on brake parts?

Harveys the real deal!

I agree! He was very quick to respond and really bent over backwards to help me. Even sent me replacement parts, even though I was the one that screwed them up. Great Guy!

I think the ISCI handbrake is fantastic, looks like it is original equipment and works great!

I am very impressed with the quality of the handbrake. So glad to finally have one and it works great. The reach is a little far but I called ISCI and they will have a different hand lever out for the RS soon. They are hoping to have it out by Spyderfest.

Has anybody touched base with Pazzo Racing about their levers? I wonder if they'd make one to fit the ISCI front brake setup? :dontknow:
