There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Is your Spyder your primary mode of transportation

I wish we were closer to CowTown. They may see me when it comes time for the 12K maintenance if they can get me in and out in the same day. I expect Len will be selling us our second Spyder, because as a man I cannot see me being the passenger behind "she who thinks she must be obeyed." :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

Although :shemademe_smilie: might be the reason too!:roflblack::roflblack:

I intend to ryde the Spyder as my primary transportation as long as I can and weather cooperates.

:agree:I ryde it every day possible. I have 4,200 miles on it now and have owned since early May, but couldn't even ryde for most of that month with the flooding around here. I have almost all of my ''modding'' complete and I am just enjoying the time on my RT. Love my :spyder2::firstplace:

Pretty much. My truck still hasn't qualified for an oil change (in miles) since I bought my first Spyder back in Sept. 08. But now that I'm retired I should take her out for a bath and oil change. Kinda like walking the dog: you don't really want to do it but you know you're gonna have to sooner or later.

aka1004, you've had your engine torn down twice? Why?

Mine started off as a toy but soon became the only thing I drive anymore. The only time I use my truck is in harsh weather or if I have to make a dump run.

Is has been just as reliable as any other bike I've owned and more reliable than the last two Ford trucks I owned. I have no problem jumping on either of my Spyders today and heading cross country on them. Having over 80,000 miles on my two Spyders in 3.5 years tells me I'm riding them more than any other vehicle I've owned to date.

Nobody likes anything sitting in the shop but till BRP sells as many units as Ford or Chevy or even Harley you're not going to see the dealer support or network they have. I knew that going into this thing back in 2007 and it was a concern but the dealer network is much better than it was then, we didn't even have a dealer in TN back then.

For those of you that have had issues with long waits in the shop I truly feel bad for you, I know I wouldn't be very happy either but that has not been the case with me even with all the mods I've done to the Spyder. I think things are going to get better from what I've seen and heard on the inside. Nobody wants you to have a better experience with Spyder ownership than BRP and they are working hard to make that happen.

First one was for main shaft replacement and took them 4 month.
Engine broke down only after 8 days and 400 miles.
Back to shop for another repair/engine tear down and that took 3 month.
I got it back on June 18th and engine blew up with smoke and oil blowing out of muffler after 17 miles. Spyder was towed back to dealer and now waiting begins again for 3rd teardown. It's been 17 days but no progress.

Reliable transportsion? :cus: NO.

I'm sure you took off your prototype fuel management before all this happened right?

So why did you take it off, was it not working right?

That was 3rd time I thought I had enough with spyder and took all my mods off and sold them, ready to trade it in for something else. spyder was still in and out of dealer with problems unrelated with engine.

My :spyder2: has spent a total of 3 weeks in the shop for DPS replacement and leaking rear suspension both warranty. This time I agreed to waiting as I was away out of state doing a international show so it was good for me. Other than this my 2010 RT has been flawless.

Yea, a long time ago. This suddenly reminds me of my meeting with brp lawyer. They even blamed larger windshield for improper airflow around spyder.

Most engine mod my spyder had was pc and free flow air system. And that little gadget, manipulates ambient temp.
I just remember you having HID issues and mods that I haven't even tried. When I read all your latest post there is no mention of any of the mods you've done yet the Spyder is a piece of junk. Just maybe some of your problems were self inflicted. Not saying your current motor problem is but for someone who does not know your pass playing with the Spyder you would think this was a stock Spyder that's just self destructing.

I know if I was BRP or the dealer and you told me you were doing fuel mods and free flowing air kits and had cut into the ambient temperature wire to play with it I would have told you you were on your own dime. I have done fuel mods and a free flowing air kit from Kewlmetal and if my motor blew I would not even think about asking BRP to pay for it after the mods I've done. Just saying.

3 weeks is too long in my book. If you think the repair is stalled I would get Carlo involved, that's what he's there for.

My spyder suffered from lots of problems before any mods got installed. I waited 4-5 month, well forced to wait because it was in shop very often from day 3, to do any mods.
Did my cheap hid that triggered fault light and was uninstalled cause my engine to blow up 2 years later or cause my rear fender to fall off?
Or may be it was power commander.

I guess everybody with juiceboX or power commander and high flow filter are on their own if a problem comes up.

My spyder had many of all known issues but engine was the one thing that performed well before they tored engine down for main shaft.

Question here was, is spyder suitable as main form of tramsportaion.
Mine wasn't from the beginning, before any mods were installed. Not only because of all the problems but lack of competetent mechs/dealers, parts that takes 1 1/2 month to "collect" for repair and brp and dealers attitude toward spyder. It's toy, so what it stays in shop for four month...

I tried to make Phantom 14 my daily driver but it did not have the chops to make the cut. I have not had an extended dealer stay with it, mainly due to excellent dealer service; Things just started falling off and wearing out way too frequently, recalls, etc to warrant daily driver status, which I found to be deeply disappointing. That title now goes to the GSX1250FA. This machine is delivering drastically improved performance and much lower operating costs than the Spyder could ever achieve.

Phantom 14 is now the backup machine and will be ridden with my Wife's Spyder when we go out together. I just don't feel I can trust it above and beyond that. But it still has a place in the stable for now, so that is good.
