They are building street motorcycle now that people want to and should be able use everyday.
One mechanic actually said I am just riding my spyder too much!
Spyder is not a recreational vehicle you take out to every other month...

Brp better step up or when, not if company like Honda with extensive dealer network comes out with decent reverse trike, brp may not need to worry about customer service, when there are not many customers to worry about.

Use every day? Well, I can only speak for myself but I know ahead of time that I will enjoy my new Spyder only while the weather stays warm enough to ride comfortably and come late autumn I will take it off the road and lay it aside for the winter. In every sense BRP's trike for me IS a recreational vehicle. We own and ride it for pleasure but in a northern climate it has its season.

From observing the scarcity of bikes on British roads in the cold months of the year that is what the vast majority of bikers do every year also, so I'm not resorting to eccentric behaviour by switching over to using the car's cold-beating comfort and 4-wheeled safety and stability.

If you are seriously suggesting that the Spyder's current popularity is partly down to Honda's trike not having a reverse gear you can't have read many of the posts from devoted fans of the Spyder in this forum, most of whom appear to be ready to lose the gold in their teeth rather than give up their beloved Spyder. :roflblack:

And in case you were wondering, I believe I'm telling it like it is, not how I'd like it to be. :spyder: :thumbup:

The spyder is my primary transportation as it is easier on the pocket book then my Durango.
I have the spyder Tuesdays and Thursdays to do errand and attend daughters softball games and do grocery shopping, and my hubby has it the other days and he takes it to work and back.

In less then 2 months we have over 2,000 miles on it.

We love our spyder.

Ah, I think I get it. You mean by reverse trike it would have 2 wheels at the front? I'd be surprised if BRP had not patented the essential design elements of their Spyder, making life difficult for Honda.

so far... I am very fortunate. my dealership KNOWS this is my main ride. I do set up service appointments around their scheduling, get it there the night before or first thing when the door opens; and normally have it back at the end of that day.

they screwed up one time, with a warranty part; but screaming at someone doesn't make the part arrive any sooner. and since I work at a well stocked Ford dealership... I know how sh*t happens.

as long as they're up front with me about turn around time, and don't blow smoke up my butt; I'm good with their efforts. the one Spyder tech is pretty good at what he does; and the dealership IS trying to keep the bike side of the house rolling, with as few problems as possible. even though their big ticket items are watercraft.

BRP will have to take parts inventory availability into account, when trying to compete with the OTHER major bike companies. otherwise... it WILL cost them future and return sales. and I think this is something that they have heard... and are listening to.

I can't say that the Spyder is my primary transportation, because I do own a truck, but the Spyder gets several times more miles each year than the F150, and this is a snowy climate that dictates the use of a 4-wheeler in the winter.

My spyder has been in a shop out of town for two weeks today. Not the first time it's been in for two weeks at a time either. My husband has been in contact with BRP every day since the 4th of July. No one seems to be able to figure out what's wrong with it. We have several long trips scheduled the next few months with the first supposed to have happened this weekend. The biggest trip is in August. We are going on the Legacy Run which will be well over two thousand miles for us. IF they get the spyder running, will I trust it for ANY of these trips? Nope. If they said they'd give me brand new one would I trust that one? Probably not.

As soon as they get it running, it's going straight to trade in.

I loved this thing for a while. I've got an $800 wrap on it, new muffler, and a Corbin Seat on the way. Am I gonna lose my a$$ on this trade? Oh yeah. At this point, we've lost our sense of humor.

I've got 3 vehicles, a car, a truck, and the Spyder. Whichever one I get to first is generally the one I use. BUT...the Spyder is better than valium when I need to calm down.

You may be right. But while it's happening to you it is often sooooo hard to keep your frustrations under control. Buying any vehicle is a big investment and if it all goes wrong and doesn't work as advertised you end up feeling helpless and you want to hit back. Bottom line is they've taken your money and sold you a crock of sh*t. A situation like that is a tough one to deal with in a calm and rational way.

You may be right but, it's not any bike brand. It's my Spyder. I'm pretty sure they will get it running again but, like I said, my confidence in it is gone. If I'm 1,100 miles from home next month and the same thing happens or some other breakdown occurs, I'm stranded somewhere for more than two weeks?

My husband has a Honda. Not a single problem in two years. He had another bike for several years before trading up and not a single problem with that one. I've had my Spyder for a year and this is my fourth problem and also the most serious. What will the next one be? I don't think I want to know....I absolutely love the bike when it's running but, therein lies the problem. When it's running.

I don't know what BRP's customer support arrangements are in the US but here in the UK my RT-S came with 2 year's Europe-wide Mondial breakdown/recovery cover free. That, plus 2 year's BRP warranty, has a potential value equal to a small fortune.

In short, if the RT breaks down 1,100 miles from home, say in Spain or Latvia, I would be inconvenienced but I would not be left to deal with the problem myself. Because we tour in Europe a lot BRP's breakdown cover was a big selling point and we are delighted to have it. :thumbup:

Well, day 14 and still nothing. We were led to believe that another part had been overnighted to the dealership but, nope. No part today. It wasn't overnighted after all. One trip cancelled.

By the way Bone Crusher, I was just reading a thread about Corbin Customer Service and you say you won't own anything from them due to 'horror stories' you've read about them. And "for all the cash you're spending and the lack of customer service, it ain't worth the headache...

How is your opinion about Corbin any different than mine is about my Spyder? Not trying to start a 'war' or anything. Just asking.

I call shop well in advance when something needs done I can't do myself and work with them and their schedule to reduce time it will be down for work to be done. Getting brake fluid bled, replacing brake pads, rear wheel bearing etc. plus slapping on new tire. Ordered parts 2 weeks ago, taking to shop 2 weeks from now.

That system has worked well for me thus far.

You can get seats anywhere, BRP has a captive audience with the Spyder'
If the Spyder is all you can ride for one reason or another,you tend to gloss over the negative.
