• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Is this why you bought it?

I bought it, so 20 years from now I can fit right into their article. Just one more thing the NYT can't get right.

Can-Am in NY Times Article[/h]
So my wife Melinda and I rode up to the Trike-In in Mt Airy, NC a few weeks ago. It's loaded with great homemade trikes, but since our Can-Ams were "store bought" & more futuristic looking, we garnered quite a bit of attention. In fact, a guy came over to talk to us. He spoke with my wife while others asked me questions about the Spyders. I ambled over to them and we discussed the Can-Am and more importantly, a new venture of mine for transporting motorcycles on scenic tours, TagAlongTrips.com. We talked for maybe 30 minutes. Then he handed me his card: "reporter from the New York Times"! :clap::ohyea:Very cool. National exposure for a new business! Yeah baby!!!!

So he calls yesterday to confirm... wait for it... the spelling of my wife's name, "because talking to her was a hoot!" WTH!!?!?! :cus:

Here is the 2nd page of the article where she is quoted talking about her Spyder, along quotes from Chaz Rice, a spokesman for Bombardier Recreational Products, where sales are up 45%: http://ow.ly/dIs1U

(Three syllables: "Tag. A. Long." Was that so hard? Noooooo! 30 million readers could learn about our new business and... She talks about how fast she can go! :banghead:)
 
The article has some merit, we've all observed first hand that the Spyder is ideal for older riders and those challenged. I think this is great, the more ryders the better. But to imply that's primarily who the Spyder appeals to is simply wrong. I purchased it because it was distinctly unique. The looks and design were incredible and it offered a ride that was, in my opinion, more thrilling than a motorcycle while offering significantly better stability and comfort. It was a winning combination that no other vehicle offered at an affordable price.
 
I bought it because I like new and different. Just because I fit some of the parameters does not mean much to me. :roflblack:
 
With traffic increasing and cities constantly changing traffic lights to make sure people have to stop at at least every other, at leat around here, we'll likely see an increase in trikes. It's just no fun trying to balance a big bike, with a passenger and bins filled with non-essentials, errrr, I mean essentials. :)

No, I don't fit the profile (though there is something to be said for bigger/more power and not having to worry about the weight at intersections).

Judging by the comments it seems as if the NYT readers are a bunch of a:cus:hats.

I read all the comments and it looks as though the negative comments were from all over the U.S. and one from Switzerland. So, like I said, you can find them all over the place and I don't think that they only read the NYT's.

Why Can-Am

Yes, the Spyder does have an older demographic, but look at who is buying cycles across the board... 40-50+ (kids are gone, more disposable cash, looking to recapture fun, etc.) It's not young guys buying new $30k Harleys. They can't afford them. Bike sales are down 55% and those of us in the older bracket are starting to enjoy our lives. So yes, Spyders do attract more safety oriented, mature markets, but maybe we just have more to live for! :coffee:

Ugh,...This topic is so played out. Tired of hearing this vitriol from the 2-wheeled trolls.

Cool is a state of mind, man,... like cheap sunglasses, or flip flops,... I ryde a Spyder because I love it! It's total fun. I couldn't give two :cus: about the nay-sayer's and trash talkers.

I met so many great people at Lamont's BBQ, that I know I'm not alone in loving these bikes. That's all I needed to know. :rolleyes:
