• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

doc humphreys had one years ago but it was taken off. cant find a video of an rt transmission filter
change . want to do one next oil change. are there any out there ? thank you !! irv :helpsmilie:

If you can change your own oil and filter you can easily change the HCM filter with no video needed. The only very minor thing I faced was getting a Torx bit on Bolt #4, lower, rearwardmost one in the tightening sequence picture; just had to loosen a little more Tupperware, no big deal.

HCM Filter & Cover Change Instructions.jpg

I changed ours when I did the oil change closest to the 30,000 mile mark. I took my time and let the case drain overnight, and cleaned the ports and sealing surfaces and lightly oiled the rubber oring that the HCM filter port has that engages the case.

Then just use the cross sequence to even out the 6 cap screws up to about 5 INCH pounds torque, and then go over the sequence again to bring them up close to the prescribed 9 INCH pounds.... it just takes a little twist of the wrist - you can probably even use a 1/4" drive screwdriver to snug them up. DON'T get TOO ROUGH!!

just wondering the minimum amount of panel removal before i get to the cover. cd is not
as helpful as i was expecting. looks like everything you take off putting on ron's sway bar.

Yeah, I had to learn the 3-D puzzle the hard way when I got my RTS. It was at 30K, and since I got it from the online dealer, I had no history on it. So I replaced the HCM, oil, fuel filters myself. Also had to replace the inner left side bag due to a broken hings. Not I'm fairly intimate with the tryke. (Got a post on here somewhere about that day)

As has been said though, if you know how to take the plastic off, the HCM is easy. Just follow the torque and patter specs and all will be well. No need for the dealer or BUDS.

didnt even think to pop the r front side cover off. hello! couple more pieces of plastic after the oil change stuff
and we will be there. got filter coming from baja ron. nuther 1000 miles or so to next oil change. ordered a set of brakes too for
later. and plugs. thanks guys !--irv

are the only 2 extra panels that actually need to come off- the r lower black side panel and
the square closeout below ? just from looking, i should have to take off the large rear side panel.
dont want to take off more than i need. i try to learn from my experience and you spyder experts.
done a lot more to it than i would have thought and have even helped a couple others.
try to
pay it forward.--thanks again.--irv toms
