That's why i like that in Jersey there's NO self service for gas.
Plus Reg gas is about 30 to 50 cents a gal cheaper than the surrounding states.
Well, at the risk of straying way off this thread, I absolutely HATE having attendant only gas stations. I'll risk running out of fuel trying to get to where I can pump my own gas.
1st, it's a racket. The pretense that it is 'safer' is bull. There is no evidence that there is any added safety in having a minimum wage person put fuel in your tank. (nothing wrong with minimum wage, we all started out there, just saying).
2nd, who cares more about my ride, me, or the aforementioned gas station attendant?
3rd, had a 750 Honda. Beautiful Root Beer copper. Got caught in a 'They do it or you don't get gas' part of the country. So I say, OK, I got to have gas, how bad can it be? The guy can't hit the fill hole and clanks the metal nozzle on my tank! I'm surprised I didn't get a paint chip or a good dent! :yikes: Then, when he finally does find the fill hole, he proceeds to crank the nozzle all the way open. There is not much room between the hole and the frame hump in the middle of the tank. That's why you fill it to the side. Of course this highly trained, uber safe fueling specialist didn't understand that, so he spews fuel (which I paid for) all over the tank and seat (which I cleaned up).
He did say "Sorry!" But in the spash episode he pulls the nozzle out of the fill hole so now I'm sweating berries about another paint chip event! Fortunately he's a fast learnier and he gets it right this time.
Just when I thought I'd be able to get out with no more damage he somehow over fills the tank and again, fuel goes everywhere.
Granted, this is probablay not everyone's experience... But it only takes once!
