• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Is it just me?

My wife and I both have heart problems, hers is d-fib and mine is a-fib. I have a defib and pacemaker, she does not yet. We are both kinda blind, old you know, and have handicap placard for our truck. She willnot let me carry it on the spyder. says if I can ryde, park in the lot. When together, She pulls i n to the side and I back innext to her. Works pretty good and not to close to doors.

I am pretty sure I could have fought the ticket and won. But it's over an hour drive one way and I decided the $35 and the education were good enough.

I guess 35$ Isn't too bad, Over there 1st offence 250$ 2nd offence,
You have to give up your first born.
My opinion the handicap spaces should be at the back of the lot, most of them need the exercise anyway,.

Ron, I hope you are joking. I am a disabled veteran of the Korean and Viet Nam wars. I would hope that you would not disrespect yourself by parking in a handicapped slot. :(

I'm in the same shape and have handicapped plates on the Spyder and disabled veteran plates on the cages. What chaps my butt is when someone says, "What's wrong with you?" I have at times offered to show my scars (only have some 50 of them.)

I'm sure Ron is joking, because he's a good guy.

That's why i like that in Jersey there's NO self service for gas.
Plus Reg gas is about 30 to 50 cents a gal cheaper than the surrounding states.

Well, at the risk of straying way off this thread, I absolutely HATE having attendant only gas stations. I'll risk running out of fuel trying to get to where I can pump my own gas.

1st, it's a racket. The pretense that it is 'safer' is bull. There is no evidence that there is any added safety in having a minimum wage person put fuel in your tank. (nothing wrong with minimum wage, we all started out there, just saying).

2nd, who cares more about my ride, me, or the aforementioned gas station attendant?

3rd, had a 750 Honda. Beautiful Root Beer copper. Got caught in a 'They do it or you don't get gas' part of the country. So I say, OK, I got to have gas, how bad can it be? The guy can't hit the fill hole and clanks the metal nozzle on my tank! I'm surprised I didn't get a paint chip or a good dent! :yikes: Then, when he finally does find the fill hole, he proceeds to crank the nozzle all the way open. There is not much room between the hole and the frame hump in the middle of the tank. That's why you fill it to the side. Of course this highly trained, uber safe fueling specialist didn't understand that, so he spews fuel (which I paid for) all over the tank and seat (which I cleaned up).

He did say "Sorry!" But in the spash episode he pulls the nozzle out of the fill hole so now I'm sweating berries about another paint chip event! Fortunately he's a fast learnier and he gets it right this time.

Just when I thought I'd be able to get out with no more damage he somehow over fills the tank and again, fuel goes everywhere.

Granted, this is probablay not everyone's experience... But it only takes once!

handicapped

I always park in a handicapped zone and never get a ticket........................You didn't mention whether or not you have a reason to or have a sticker. If you don't I sure nuff wouldn't be bragging about it. Lot of people that I see in the spaces don't look handicapped but it isn't always a visible handicap. If you use a spot and aren't eligible I hope the judge sees your post and fines accordingly. Shame on you.

No, I'm sorry to say I am not joking. The area where I parked was not clearly marked. The sign was facing away from me and I didn't go around to read it.

I discovered that there is a Wal-Mart employee authorized to issue parking citations. He was sitting not too far from me when I parked, watched me take all my gear off and put it in the Frunk, then watched as I passed right by him into the store. Then he went over to my Spyder and stuck a parking ticket between the front of the seat and the Tupperware.

Here are the other things I learned from this experence;

1- It is more important to write a ticket than to keep a Handicapped space open.
2- I need to pay more attention and walk around to the other side of the sign post to see what it says. It may be important!
3- I would have been better off parking in the 'Fire Lane' ($25.00) as opposed to the Handicap space ($35.00) and I would not have had to walk as far.

Being a fireman it did cause me to wonder how blocking a fire lane and potentially endangering everyone in Sam's Club (including handicapped people) is a lesser offence than potentially inconveniencing someone by parking in a handicap space.

I understand that I was wrong and that I earned the ticket. Still, it seems to me that something is out of adjustment here.

I have never intentionally parked in a handicapped space before or since.

Authorized by wal-Mart? Here in Florida you have to be law enforcement to issue parking citations. Even if it is a private parking lot like wal-mart.
I know places that have rowing companies taking your vehicle for improper parking and charging you a fee to get it back.
Going back to the topic.,.
If they damage my bike, trike or car bc they decided to slam the door on my property.. Wow, they are going to end up paying a body shop to fix the scratch as a lesson.
I saw a guy kicking his Chrysler Sebring on my brand new f-150 one time. I approached the
Moron and asked him why he did that. After looking at the nasty dent on my door, he said "That is nothing! A little ding". Hell broke lose fellows!
I can't deal with scratches or dents. I tried, I just can't.

PRIVATE PARKING LOT

Actually walmart and others that are open to the general driving public are not private parking lots. In most jurisdictions they are considered to be Public Highways for purposes of Accidents ,Dui, Drug dealing and illegal parking among other things...............Mike.......

Not here in Fl, we don't even do crash reports if it happens on a parking lot. Driver's exchange form. We do "hit and run" if the person leaves the scene and we have witness or cameras.
Even at Wally world, the judges are asking for pix showing the violation on a handicap parking!

I don't park in Handicapped spaces but its sad that now-a-days just about everyone has a Handicapped pass. I know off lots of people that have and don't deserve them.

I know what you mean. My Mom was a double amputee, and my Brother would not use the handicapped space when my Mom was with him. He always said I can push her chair just fine.

Isn't that the truth.......... There is a person in our city that has a pick up truck with a (I'm guessing) 15" lift kit in it, big tires and a handicapped sticker hanging on the mirror. This truck takes two parking spots on it's own, it's that big. If you can climb up into this truck, there is no reason to have a sticker. I don't know how these people get away with it. :lecturef_smilie:
