• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Irony

NancysToy

Motorbike Professor
Yesterday Nancy attended a car/bike show in a little village near here. The show is put on annually by the local volunteer fire department, and they do a dandy job. Her Spyder attracted enormous amounts of attention. That surprised her a bit, since they have been out a while, and she had it at the show last year. Guess there are still lots of folks who are discovering it...or at least getting to know it close up and speak to an owner for the first time.

Nancy won first place in the motorcycle class, much to the dismay of the other bike owners. The Harley that took second was really miffed, complaining that her bike was "too new". BTW, he had a real old late nineties HD. :D The irony is in the trophy. This show awards a fire extinguisher with an engraved brass plaque. How wild is that? Reporting that a fire extinguisher was awarded to a Spyder owner is sure to stir the pot. Couldn't keep it a secret, though. :bdh:

Congrats on her winning! That other guy can go suck an egg - sore loser! Too funny about the fire extinguisher!:2thumbs:

Just know . . . .

. . . . in the up coming weeks, an image of that trophy will pop into my head and I will start laughing.

Just poke a stick at the hornet's nest, why don't you? :joke:

A Fire Ax might have been a better choice. But what do you expect from a Fire Department?

:congrats: on your win! A win is always a win no matter what anyone else thinks.

Obviously that fire dept doesnt look on the websites. If they did, they would have traded your trophy in for a working fire extinguisher.:D:D

Congrats on the win:2thumbs::2thumbs:

The trophy is a working fire extinguisher! High quality one, at that. Just has a brass plaque attached.

Kudos to Nancy and her ironic trophy!!

I had a slightly similar experience when I entered a '76 Norton 850 Commando in a small motorcycle show back in 1982. It won first place in the stock class and a brand new full dress all the bells and whistles Electra Glide came in second. As I dimly recall....Mr ElectraGlide dude was none too pleased either. The ingestion of beer helped him mellow out a bit, I believe. :D

Excellent!!!!:2thumbs:

I've put the Spyder in 3 bike shows. At 2 of the shows, I had the opportunity to talk with the judges. They had no idea who made the bike, what the attributes were, or the difference between stock and modified. Each time I lost to a Goldwing trike with more lights. We're working on an info sheet to post on the bike for future shows.

I did win "Most Unique Bike" at the Railroad Bike Rally last year.

I rode my Spyder to a bike show last year. I didn't enter it, but it was parked about 50 feet from the custom bikes and it drew more attention than they did!

:congrats: Nancy on the trophy. Too funny it was a fire extinguisher. Scotty you do need to get a picture of the Spyder with trophy and get it on here.
