Ipod Question

All,

I was trying to use an Ipod Nano 7th generation in the AUX port of my 2015 RT Limited. It played but I noticed the display didn't change from AUX to Ipod. Also, I couldn't change songs. I looked in the operator's manual and it says the unit is compatible with 5th and 6th generation Nanos.

Question...is there anyway to make the 7th generation work?

Do you have the Apple brand adapter?

We have the same setup on our 14 and it works fine as best I can tell.

The manual is not the best learning tool. Use the cheat sheet that came with the bike and watch the finlessbob video

This is probably a stupid question... :shocked:
Are you using the MP-3 adapter, or the I-Pod adapter?
The MP-3 adapter plugs into where you'd plug your earbuds.
The I-Pod adapter will plug into the "bigger" port; you probably need an adapter from Apple...
(I think that they changed the plug in their latest creations)

I was using the adapter that came with the unit. I thought the Nano only came with a USB.

Our setup is the BRP adapter cable, into the large Apple to small Apple adapter, then the Nano.

As Bob mentioned, maybe you are trying to use the MP3 cable into the earbuds output. That doesn't work to control but will play with all adjustments on the Nano itself.

I was using the MP3 Adaptor....but I need to use the ipod adapter. I need to buy one of those 30pin to lighting adaptors to get it to work.

you just need the adapter

you don't have to order it from Amazon, but here it is so that you can find info about it. Be careful of getting ones that are cheaper than about $30 -- they usually charge but won't control.

QUESTION

...........I received TWO adaptors with my 2014 basic RT ....one for the MP-3 and one for an Ipod ( up to 4th gen ) after 4th Gen you can get an adapter, that I believe connects to the OEM one (?) maybe not.......Mike :thumbup:

Make sure you purchase the Apple Brand adapter.
Not all adapters are equal and many of the imposters do NOT work correctly with the Spyder.

All - I bought an Apple adapter at Walmart and a Ipod Nano 7th gen from a pawn shop. It works like a charm. I have all the functionality to include switching between artists. Even better I only paid $60 for the Ipod Nano 16gig...plus it came with about 1500-2000 songs I already like :}

It attaches to the attachment plug then directly into the iPod. I paid $29 for the adapter at Walmart. hyea:

Truthfully; I thought about the kind of mistakes that I could make while hooking an I-Pod up... :thumbup:

I am a mbr at Costco so I probably could have gotten it cheaper there or online. I had been messing around for a while and wanted to purchase the adapter (to ensure it worked) before someone else bought that Nano at the pawn shop :}

Initially I didn't know what the other iPod adaptor was for. This is the first iPod I have ever owned
