I had thought it would be easy, just take off the old doohickey that the precious GPS clips into, and put on the new thingy. Unfortunately that would perch my GPS facing 90 degrees off. I actually read the manual looking for a way to change the orientation of of the GPS from horizontal to vertical; no go. So I twisted this and that and finally got it to where I can sort of see it, if I crane my neck.
So, I bought a thingy to use the RAM - ball type attachment. This was fairly easy to set up on my old 2010 RTs. On my new to me 2016RT Limited, not so much. The instructions are to remove one of the big honking screws that hold the handlebars together. (Then you put in a slightly longer big screw, through a thing-a-ma-bob with a ball on the end.) They won't come out! But when I loosed them, I could adjust my handlebars to a very comfortable set up. So I took a ride, then a nap.
Still wont let me remove and replace those big ole screws. New plan: attach a ball to the shelf above the dash. First I'll have to buy some screws of the correct size.
The thing that complicates everything to me, is the "Limited" part of the Spyder. The chrome cover on the bars rules out the cuff thingy that I got from Lamonster that I had on my 2010. I'd have my GPS in a good position and my drink holder level enough that I can drink my water and not wear it, if I could use a cuff.
Any thoughts or suggestions are welcome. Even sympathy and pity, too!
