• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

In your fourties..??..😲

Hmmm, Yacht in Arizona? How often do you use that, lol? :roflblack:

Actually, when we lived in Mesa, AZ back in the eighties, it was claimed that AZ had one of the highest watercraft ownership rates in the country. Hard to believe in the middle of the desert southwest but there are many lakes and water recreation areas. Truly a beautiful place to live!

I took mine at 62 but first I did a spreadsheet to analyze the effect of that choice. It showed my break-even point would happen while I was 77 years old. Now I'm gonna be 77 next month, but do I regret it? Nope, I enjoyed the early retirement, while I was still young and vigorous enough to exploit it! Yeah, I could have collected a little more, but the three-year delay just wasn't worth it for me.
The break even point, otherwise called the crossover age, is the one aspect of SS that Reagan failed to change significantly. His goal was to make it financially beneficial for retirees to delay their start of withdrawals, but the fact that his reforms did not significantly delay the crossover thwarted his reforms. In that respect he failed to truly shore up SS for the long term.

In my case my wife's benefit is based on my earnings, and she is 4 years older than I am. Because of our age differences and the way it impacted our benefits, the crossover for me would have been about age 89. Family history doesn't support any expectation of me living that long so naturally I opted to start drawing at 62.

I don't understand all this discussion about "watercraft in Arizona" over the mention of "a yacht in the Mediterranean"...

Not so. There is a difference between private, for profit entities and Social Security.
Not so? You declare this, but offer no explanation.

The business model of insurance (except life insurance) is to spread risk across more premium payers than the number of ultimate payees. No matter who happens to be operating that business. How is that "Not so?" :dontknow:

Anyway, welcome to the Spyderhood, friend! :D
