• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. In shop for new DPS

I know there is a limited amount of DPS's- I just don't think they should hold owners Spyder's until they actually have something on the shelf and the process has begun.

btw, the way it was explained to me, each dealer gets a certain amount of DPS shipped to them based on 10% of their sales. So if your dealer sold 40 Spyders, they would get 4 DPS units. (hopefully they round up instead of down!) My :spyder:, and my neighbors, were not purchased at the dealership where are Spyders are being serviced, so an additional order was placed to get our 2 Spyders back on the road. Ours are (supposedly) to be the first in SC to get the new DPS's.

I'm so excited to be the guinea pig on the way to Gatlinburg.

I once had a brake shop try to hold my car hostage after a brake inspection saying they couldnt safely release or even put it back together with the worn parts it had. I asked them if they were sure thats the route they wanted to take. They said "Yup" I asked if I could use their phone, and dialed the police. They decided putting it back together and letting me have it was a better option.

I would have felt much better about the DPS recall if BRP actually had the new part at the dealers before holding Spyders hostage for a replacement.:doorag:

Sounds like they did, depending on the dealer. Hopefully, that means the others are not far behind.

My dealer is calling me back. At least they've heard of this even though they don't have any parts. They said first come first serve which means what when you have to make an appointment for anything two weeks in advance.

Does anyone know anything about the clutch on the SE5s? I saw that one on the website.

Never tried that but sounds like a great approach. I like it!

I originally brought my :spyder: in because of shifting issues (P0826) and it's an SE5. It was repaired under warranty. Haven't heard of anything about any clutch recalls- I'm sure I would have.:dontknow:

If they would have repaired it the week I brought it in instead of waiting a week, I'd be ryding right now.:banghead:

I like that approach too! :2thumbs:
But don't think I'd use it for the only authorized service Dept. less than 100 miles away.:doorag:

UPDATE

Found out from Lamonster I could get my Spyder as I have had the first update. Unfortunately the tech was unaware of this bit of information.
Also unfortunatel the service Sept. is 80 miles or so away and I will not have another day free until a week from Friday, So if the DPS comes in and is installed by then. I'll take it, since I plan on taking the :spyder:anyway!

It just sucks that I have another week to wait until I ryde:doorag:

Apparently, this seems to depend on each particular dealer's policy, and not on anything from BRP. My dealer is one of those who refuses to let one out of its grasp without any safety recall completed...even this one, not just the software update. Try as I might to reason with them and explain that the BRP letter did not say to stop riding (neither did the first one), they said that if my Spyder landed, it would stay until it got a DPS...period! They were already holding one other one. Firefly got his just in time. Good luck negotiating with your dealer. I hope you win!

dps shipped

Thats weird as my dealer said that he can't even order the dps', the comp won't let him as they're in auto ship. Mines supposed to be in on tues but he's not sure if he can do it pending parts.

our dealer told me this morning that BRP is shipping out new DPS units for 10% of the inventory he's sold. they are to be installed in the inventory stock first (sounds like a liability thing), then to the already sold models as they come back in. i think he said BRP has been installing the new DPS as they rolled off the line since June or July.

Glad I read the entire thread before posting, as I was seriously upset when I read your initial post. I am glad they are taking care of you; however, things could have been handled much better. I have not been there for service, and doubt they will be one of the shops I call when I decide to have ours replaced. At least let me know how they do once they get the new part in.

the service dept

:dontknow:
I'm not a lawyer. But they (the service dept) are adamant about not returning the :spyder: until the DPS is replaced.

So.. what turned into a warranty repair that was supposed to take less than a week is now going onto it's third week.:gaah:

Jan-March in shop for DPS issues
June and July for DESS replacement
3 weeks for Shift switch and DPS.
:cus:

The truth be known they more than likely didn't have your shifter problem fixed and just gave you that BS about DPS to give them more time to hold your :spyder2: hostage. If it was my :spyder2: and I was up there :spyder2: would come home with me but that's me. Let's hope you do get it back before Gatlinburg......freebob..:doorag:
