• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

So far (about 100 miles) it shifts great! Also, don't have the little hesitation while running at steady speed that it did before. Felt like a severe "lean surge" but it is gone now. Wonder if it had something to do with the sensor sending false siginals?

Did some nice back roads and a little run to the farm on US-90. Did notice that with a gusty wind off either bow the CalSi screen "grunts" a little through the vent. Anyway it sure kept me comfortable in the shadows with the temps in the seventies. The dew point is aroung the mid twenties so things can chill fast if even a little damp.

Got to get used to the cool, won't be long and it will be a 25 mile ride at four AM instead of just a couple of blocks.

Suddenly the sensors appeared to get the two Spyders on the road again. Pensacola Motor Sports held up their end and got them right out! Thanks agoan to the shop and parts crew for their support and a kind ear to listen to my gripes.

So, did the gear sensor that was backordered until Nov. 18 for you came in early and was replaced? I was told Nov. 20

Don't know for sure.

Yes-No-Maybe, Tony, (Parts Mgr) was out raceing today when the sensors came in so nobody knows for sure what shipment this is! The parts seem to be okay and they are here so the shop jumped and installed them!

As far as I know both Spyders down for the problem are no longer SHIFLESS

Glad your back in the saddle, Coyote. See u at the VA. Need to get together for a ryde.

Anyone know if the gear position sensor is the same on the SE5 as the SM5? Maybe we have our surge culprit as well....

Possible but------

On the SE the glitch in the sensor apparently would trigger false indications/signals allong the entire computer buss. They were able to duplicate the symptoms in the shop. Onthe SE it is tied together with the shift servo system and the ignition ineterrupt for the shift as well. Don't know if that was causing the problem but that is the only thing changed.

Both my Highthawk and the PC would get it occasionaly, usually very hot, humid days and sometimes it appeared fuel related. Of course neither had any fuel management system, just carbs set to keep the EPA happy.

I have an SM5. That would explain the power steering intermittently not working as well as the lowbeams that do all sorts of strange things while powering up. If the surge is also related I will be one happy camper!:2thumbs:

:congrats: on getting your :spyder: back :2thumbs:. Sorry I didn't get to see you at the PowWow this weekend. Ryde Safe and Enjoy

My youngest (30YO) Son returned to the nest this week and by the time we got him settled in and some more stuff moved to the farm we did not make it either. Hated to miss it but being retired takes up so much time we just can't get everything done.

The CalSi large screen sure did feel good in the 40 degree chill this morning on the way to dialysis. It was only 51 when I came out just before ten AM. Did notice that the neat little vent will "grunt" at you when meeting large wind makers on tight roads and does it some with gusty winds off either bow when riding at sixty mph or above.

Thought the shifting problem had returned once but it was jut the bulky gortex glove bumped the paddle.
