• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I may Buy a spyder to release my inner Batman

Go phantoms or the '11 orange rs-s. I have 2 phantoms but that orange one is catching my eye. I'm 35 also. The RT is for 50+++.lol

I resent that statement, unless you want to buy me a RT. Then it would be okay with me :roflblack::roflblack:

Go for it!

Take it from another 'wannabe' batman :spyder2: ryder, there is no better feeling than driving down the road on one of these babies!

Phantom Black is the ONLY way to go to get your 'batman' fix LOL.

As far as mileage, most of the ones for sale usually have under 5k miles on them from what I've seen (I've got 10k on mine in a year and a half, and that's in Wisconsin even!) so I wouldn't worry too much about that.

One warning I'll have to give you, once you start, its hard to stop, as seen from my photo album http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/album.php?albumid=1095

Good Luck and :welcome:!!!

Emerson :welcome:  Whatever you do? Don't go to your dealer just to look and sit on one. I did that and the next thing I knew, I was signing the papers. Leaving? I couldn't believe I had done it again. I can't just look, I buy and to be honest with you? I don't regret it one bit.

I had to give up motorcycles when I was 27 and after what seemed like 32 years, I was on a Spyder. I had to go take the MSF course and drove the instructor nuts. He had a full head of hair in class but, lost it on the course. When the stopwatch and clipboard came out I couldn't believe I passed and he came over to tell me, if he had brought them out the day before, I would still have my hair.

Whatever you decide to do, new or used? You'll have a blast and being in the over 50 crowd? I wouldn't trade my GS/RS for an RT. Looking at them Saturday, while I was having some warranty work done, they are just to big and bulky for this beach bum.

I'm 6'4" and added 3" ESI risers to a 2" center riser it came with. My Spyder was a demo with 260 miles on it when I bought it. I've added a few other mods and that's the fun part making it yours. So have fun and welcome Emerson.

EMERSON BEWARE!!!

Please, please proceed with caution. Looking is addictive enough...ryding?? Oh Oh you will be smitten, bitten AND addicted. :2thumbs: Once you cross the line and own...you are done for!!!!! So beware and ENJOY...:welcome:

:welcome: to the fray Emerson.

Most of the comfort mods, risers, floorboards, highway pegs, different seat, are specific to the individual. The handlebar risers lift them up to put you in a more upright ryding position instead of the semi sport bike lean. Many people love their risers, my wife has them on her Spyder and loves them, but I do not care for them at all.

My advice would be to get the Spyder that fits you and your budget, and then ryde it a while the way it is in order to get used to it. It will not take long before you start realizing whether something will make you more comfortable on it or not. That is when the modding process begins.

Best of luck in your search.

The last one was the newer pic. I put a carbon hmf on the wifes bike the other day and duals on mine. the TricRings are cool looking.

Sweet...nice looking bike and pipe!!!!!

The TricRings are very cool looking...might have to do that some day!

As far as the RT goes, it's a great bike, no question...comfy looking, like my sofa. :roflblack::ohyea:

First ::welcome:

I was in the same boat as you . I never owned a bike before the :spyder2:. I saw a :f_spider:knew right a way that I wanted one. So last summer got my bike licence and went for a:f_spider: test drive . After test driving and then my wife wanted to ride as passenger we both decided that we wanted the RT even though we are not in the 50 crowd yet:roflblack: we are only 46. So to make along story short last fall we bought a 2010 timeless black RTS and will take delivery of it in 4 weeks when the snow goes and dealer gets it out of storage.

Hi Marker,

Congrats on your decision to buy an RT-S!! You'll love it.

Get your Spring projects around the house done while you can, cause come riding season, it'll be hard for those projects to compete with your Spyder!

Keep us posted.....

Emerson, I agree with PCBeachBum. Don't go near your dealer and sit on a spyder. My dealer didn't even have one on the floor. His last one was in a mall in another city. One of his customers graciously let me "demo" his RT and I fell in love with it. It wasn't long before papers were being signed and the spyder was being brought back from the mall for me.
Jason, thank you for clarifying for me why I bought an RT rather than an RS. I was 59 at the time of my purchase. The RS I had sat on previously sat me forward and I didn't think I would like that for long rides. Someone had told me about the riser but sounded like the company could have come out with a cheaper adjustment. The RS also didn't come with touring bags and if I stopped at the store while out, where would I put the groceries? Soooooo the RT sounded like it had everything I needed from the get go.....except good gas mileage. that I don't like!!!!

The Adventures of CINCYSPIDER and Teddy with his
"doggles" are Priceless!

I like it here - Now all I need is a Spyder!!:2thumbs:

lol. My wife wanted a change this year so I bought another set of plastics and painted them. When I picked up the Spyders the Phantoms stood out from the rest. Of course they didn't have the orange one. What's nice with the Phantoms is all the accessories on it from factory. They just had a more finished look.

Gotta say, love that white and black contrast! Simple, elegant, clean!
