• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. I may Buy a spyder to release my inner Batman

Questions

New member
Greetings!

Just signed up here and hope to be a Reg. Im looking at purchasing a Spyder because they are simply totally awesome.

I saw one for the first time last summer. My wife and I were driving and ill never forget it. I was like "what the heck is THAT!?" it was a:spyder2: and I was like:popcorn: and I havent really been able to stop thinking about it since! Spiderbit.

Ive NEVER rode a bike before with the exeption of a minibike as a child. They never really did much for me and ive always been a truck ( cage?lol) guy but the spider just awakens my inner batman:clap:

Id like to say that this site seems pretty cool as do the members.

anway I married. 35. live in the Northeast and I think its time for me to have a mini batman releasing midlife.

My Questions are- Do miles matter a bunch? Im thinking of getting a used spyder but I dont know if that a good idea. Do you think they get beat on alot? should I just get new and pay more? They have a orange "11 by where I live and I must admit it was Sexy. What should I expect being a total virgin Rider? Is there alot of maintainance involved. Is the danger level higher than I may anticipate? anyone regret getting there Spyder? Are they really as awesome As I think they are? will I truly become the coolest person in a 100 mile radius? lol. How about the "Haters"

Anyway. Great site here folks and Hopefully Ill be around alot more.

Peace;)

Emerson, first of all :welcome: You will have a Spyder before you know it and you will love it. I think used is just fine but if you can afford a brand new one and that is what you want, go for it. You will find many Spyders with plenty of miles on them. I have had mine for 3 years and have over 35,000 miles on it. I ride almost every day as well as across the cross country and back. These spyders can stand up to a lot.

I too was a novice rider prior to owning my spyder, my MC class was the first time I had ridden a real motorcycle with a clutch and everything. I took to it like a duck to water. If you can drive a stick shift car you can shift your spyder. Take a few test rides if you get the chance or hit a few spyder gatherings and just talk to an owner. You will get so much information. There are also a few spyders for sale on the for sale forum right here and they pretty darn good deals.

Im 6 ft 3. Should I be thinking about any "mods"? What are handle bar risers? I know kinda dumb questions im just so intrigued:2excited:

I cant beleive how cool these are and that im actually gonna step out of my comfort zone and get one! I feel like a kid in toy world!:clap:

:welcome: You will find a lot of good deals on used Spyders as well as some good deals on new leftovers at the dealers. I agree you sound like a Phantom Black RS person. Good Luck and welcome to the forum.

You're just saying that because you have two phantoms and are lacking color...you should add an orange to your collection and stick it in the middle of that photo...it would look awesome and you'd be more than set for halloween!

Funny thing...I've had my bike since Aug/Sept. 2008...never seen a phantom on the road...maybe they have a stealth mode?

Hi Emerson,

Congrats on taking the bold step and admitting, openly and honestly, that you have been BITTEN! :congrats:

You've taken your first steps toward a lifetime experience that you'll find exhilerating! Whatever you pursue, you'll have a blast!

Keep us posted on your journey to Spyder ownership. Welcome to the forum!

lol. My wife wanted a change this year so I bought another set of plastics and painted them. When I picked up the Spyders the Phantoms stood out from the rest. Of course they didn't have the orange one. What's nice with the Phantoms is all the accessories on it from factory. They just had a more finished look.

Wait a sec...which is the newer pic? The two phantoms or the phantom and white/black one? I'll assume the second one as it has the LED light rings...very cool looking! The white/black contrast is really nice looking...also makes it easier for you two to not hop the other person's bike when going out...I did notice one of you had stock pipe vs. hindle...

The last one was the newer pic. I put a carbon hmf on the wifes bike the other day and duals on mine. the TricRings are cool looking.

The RTs are for the over 50 crowd because we can afford them! Take that you young things.

Nah..If they only had the RT we wouldn't have a spyder. They're a pretty boring and uneventful machine.imo. My buddy is 50 and this is his. Everytime I ride it I'm like this sucks. lol The size of the shield might as-well bought a car.haha or a couch with a window. The only thing I like is the stereo.15 years to go.

Nice to have you here.

Hello Emerson,
Nice to have you here. You will get plenty of feedback from a lot of great folks. Good vendors on this site also. The one thing I have to say is weather you buy used or new, just make sure you get a warranty with it. These can be expensive to repair, "if you run into problems" and these are not cheap to maintain either, at least if you are not mechanically inclined such as myself. They are a blast to ride and it will make you feel like a "Rock Star" when you get yours and people are stopping you and surrounding your machine asking you questions. There are used ones here on the "for sale by owner" section of this forum. I do not think miles are that important as long as you get a warranty with it. People have put more than 100,000 on their machines. Good luck with your purchase and looking forward to hearing your endeavor unfold. Jerry

these are the sexiest things ive ever seen.

Thanks for the advice on the warrenty. And thanks for the warm welcome. Ill keep you guys updated on mt batmobile journey:2thumbs::doorag::thumbup::ohyea:
