• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I HATE DAYLIGHT SAVING

I got up at 8:30 this morning. Way later than usual. I told myself it's really only 7:30, but I know I'll have trouble getting to sleep tonight. Being retired, I quit using an alarm, but I guess I must in order to get used to getting up at a decent time.

It is a bummer.....

but think of the logistics on travel....:yikes: and though we have phones and computers that reset automatically one still looks a a clock or watch from time to time. Now to spend the day resetting all the appliances thoughout the house....IMHO they should give this up..it served its purpose when Ben Franklin presented it but no longer does much but mess with our sleep....:lecturef_smilie:

I agree on keeping our clocks on one time all yr, but I prefer DST. Keep it on DST all yr long.

This is the best time of year and since you don't have to get up you should really like it. It gets dark way too early here in the winter so I like have the extra time on the end of the day.

You're both right. I like having the daylight later in the day. But I hate the back & forth of changing . . . mostly the forth in the Spring!

Patti,
Do you feel like this poor guy?

I just ramped-up the intake of "Brown Ambition" from the coffee pot, and I'm good to go!

I always thought they had it backwards anyway, I would rather have the extra daylight in the winter. When I was growing up it didn't matter much except for school, we pretty much worked daylight to dark on the farm.

Patti,

I couldn't agree more. Keep it the same all year long. I strongly dislike this back and forth on the times!!!

So - I woke up at 7:30...

...my usual wake-up-without-an-alarm-since-I'm-retired time... (wow! That is one long adjective) ... it was still dark and I knew it was only 6:30 so I rolled over and went back to sleep... and my sweetie will ask me what time it is, I'll tell her, and then she'll ask, "Is that real time or fake time?"

I don't get why people don't love DST. So what, for a day or so our internal clocks have to adjust. You get that if you visit a neighboring state.

Now, for over six months of great riding weather, we get an extra hour of light to enjoy. More daytime light, happier people, less energy usage, more riding time, what's not to like?

The reason we can't keep DST in the winter is because you'd end up sending kids to school in the dark and driving to work in the dark - when the days are short you can't shift an hour from the morning to the evening. We just don't need sunlight at 5am - so those are the hours we can use in the evening.

It's not just "a day or so" for me. Even when I was working I felt like I spent the whole DST season trying to catch up with that lost hour. :(

What do you do when you travel? Perhaps you can try a two hour adjustment, and then work your way an hour back.

:D I just don't worry about stuff like this all that much... eventually; it sorts itself out!
In the meantime: I'll just take a nap when I get home from work. :roflblack:

Don't get the concern

I love DST, last night we were out in the backyard until 7:45 on a really nice spring evening. We had 80 degrees for the day and the evening was awesome! No impact on my sleep at all. I was up at 4:30 AM this morning like any other Monday, no impact at all! At least you have 6 months to get used to it!:roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

And then there is Alaska. :yikes::yikes:

They tell me that AK used to have at least four time zones. That was before my time here and I am glad of that.

AK does go on daylight savings time--but what for? Come June 21, (Summer Solstace), we will have over 23 hours of daylight (a bit dusky at 3:00 AM or so), but it never gets totally dark. We don't need DST, but we are still on it.

Another mystery of life. :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

If I don't set my watch to DST: that means that I'm on "Missouri-Time"!

Just a Month before SpyderFest!:yes::yes:
