I Got a Thumbs down Yesterday!

I wish you would have....

It's never much mattered what I've bought or done. Someone always makes sure I know they don't approve. The worst cases I've ever come across have been on my pedal bike. Since I can never catch anyone, I get all kinds of gestures and seldom good. I've had attempts made on my life and have been called all sorts of colorful things and I have NEVER been in their way or so much as slowed them down. It doesn't matter. Morons are morons. +1 on the kids. They rock when it comes to reactions to the Spyder. :)

Thumbs down?

Don't feel bad " STUID PEOPLE CAN'T HELP THEMSELVES". Bill, I think we meet a couple of weeks ago My daughter and i were visiting KingsLand from Mi. on a White Rt and you pulled up to us . If this is you good to see ya again.

Consider the source and ride on. For someone to go down the road and send bad vibes to someone else--they are obviously having a bad day, or just mad at the world.

I had just the opposite yesterday when several of us went on a ride to Petit Jean Mtn. We met several harley folks at the lodge and visited with them for about fifteen minutes dicussing the pros and cons of both bikes and they were very pleasent and one of them even said that he was seriously looking at getting one so that his wife could be more confortable (we have RTs) so i guess that Harley riders are just like real folks, some good some bad. And when we left they gave us Five Finger Waves.:doorag:

There's a few good ones out there

A couple of weeks ago I was taking my Spyder south to my dealer for service. While at a long stop light, I noticed in my mirror a big Harley Road King splitting the lane and heading my way. I thought here I go into verbal abuse. Much to my surprize, he pulled up beside me and said "I love your bike!" We exchanged compliments on our bikes and I answered a few of the usual questions about the Spyder, the light changed and with a nod, we went our separate ways. A few minutes later, it hit me. A HARLEY GUY JUST MADE MY DAY! WOW! LIFE IS GOOD.

Each to his own, don't let it bother you, I'm too long in the tooth to care what people think or call me.

Thumb up, thumb down, middle finger :dontknow: no big deal. I'm happy in my own little world

harry
I entirely agree with Harry.I couldn't care less if some dingbat dislikes what I ride or what I do.I have never been judgmental on others and if others want to do it to me I simply ignore it.I certainly would not let it get to me.:joke:

thumbs down

it happen to me all the time now ,on the spyder, but not when I'm on my honda 750 Shadow shaft drive.
you no what who cares ,I just injoy the ride ,and with the spyder I can keep riding, had a stroke and could not keep the 750 up right
legs when bad, and I like to ride, so that why I have a 2012 rts spyder, ( so injoy your ride not some one else who care what they
think...././.:yes::yes::yes::yes:

At a light, the other day, I had some redneck look down from his monster pickup and say "Sno sled!"....I go..."No, Spyder!"
Apparently that was more conversation than he could handle cause he went tearing off down the road!

Maybe the guy's wife ran off last night with some dude on a Spyder :dontknow:....and I don't really care!!

There's always one of them lurking around somewhere....but there are way, way more kids, old motorheads and cute chicks who wave & smile to offset the fools.

Waving is overrated.. I have plenty of every kind of bikers and even some cars wave.. I try to wave back but after awhile I just get tired of waving back.. I wanna ride.. I dont want to worry if he waves because he has a Harley or whatever.. I just wanna ride..

Funny last Sunday i was coming back from upstate NY, And as i was going South past the Picatinny Arsenal [NJ] I waved to a Spyder that was headed north, I was on my Tri Glide, He gave me a look like a deer stuck in the headlights, Guess he misunderstood my wave. Some times a wave is just a wave and not to be analyzed.:dontknow:

You were in NJ, and you should have known to send a clear message with the wave...sheesh.:roflblack:

The false snobbery is not exclusive to the way spyders are not greeted. When I had my raven Yamaha Stryker I got the hardy HD waves until they realized it wasn't of their ilk. There is a group of riders out there that only consider what they ride to be the only thing that should be on the road. They are who they are,,,and that's justice enough for me.

I had the exact same thing happen on Saturday night, coming home from downtown a kid in a truck stuck his hand, thumbs down out of a 1/2 rolled down window so I kissed a "certain" finger and presented it to him...dropped a gear and left him in my mirrors. It made me smile:D. I love messing with haters.

Saturday I was on a ride with about 75 bikes, all harleys. Everybody was pretty decient all day. I was in the middle or in back all day. One the way to the last stop we hit a four lane. I was in middle at the time. We hit a stop light and everybody lined up and knew what was goin to happen. The light turned green and it was saturday night at the races. It was a free for all. Needless to say by the next stop light which was a couple of miles down the road I was leading. Two more miles and we were at the last stop. I'm at the bar ordering a beer an this nuckel dragger comes up to me and starts screaming at me that if I ever ride by his friend again we are going at it. I asked what I did and he yelled you know. I asked did I cut him off or crowd him or what? Where is he so I can find out. He just kept screaming at me.:hun: My buddies were behind him and they said he had his fists ready to go. One of his buddies moved him away. I kept asking other people if they knew what I did, most had no idea. One guy said trikes should ride in back because they make him nervous.
Everything was fine all day untill I beat the pee out of them the last four miles. Some people just can't stand that the spyder is not the usual back of the pack, slow trike. Some people just need a life I guess.:ohyea:

And his friend never did say anything to me.

Two different Guys on Harleys came up to me & asked me to join the Hannibal American Legoin riders. It's not the bike no matter what brand, it's the person on it. Had a lady want to sit on the RT while waiting for an escort ride to start. Her husband, riding a Harley, Tried to give her to me.:yikes:

Sorry you had that happen to you Bill. You know my stance on this one: if you're not riding the bike they are riding and they have a bad attitude--they are going to be hateful. Makes me sad for them. Not for me, though. I love what I ride...as you do. Glad you were able to take it with a grain of salt and enjoy the ride. That's what it's all about, right? I think some folks out there have lost sight of that. Wind in your face and enjoying the ride. Nothing else really matters.

Who cares.

What gives me the biggest charge are the reactions that come from kids. The little ones, that's all that matters. Because they are being real.

Don't matter to me if a guy on a Harley or Moped waves or not. Most of the time I wave anyway.

The kids make me :D and that beats any wave.

From someone who rides a custom built and has been on just about all Harley models and most imports - I wave at EVERYONE...specially the guys on mopeds and scooters....that won't change when I get on a Spyder..... I wave at anyone on 2 wheels....even the 3 wheelers...although I have never seen a Spyder in my travels while I was out riding.....if and when I do, I'll pull a u-turn and chase 'em down so I can see one in action close up! ;)

My 5'4" wife rides a new Heritage.. always been a Harley person.. I've always been a BMW person.. she wants to know if I'm going to ride the Spyder out West with her next year.. she wants to see the Grand Canyon before she turns 50...

there is good and bad all over..

I read in this thread.. where bicycle people get messed with a lot.. I had the good fortune of meeting a bicycle rider from London, that i corresponded with for over 9 year on a music line.. he is riding the transamerican highway ..started in Portland OR.. he will be at the Atlantic Ocean side in 400 miles.. wonderful blog I can post if anyone cares to see the usa through the eyes of an Englishman

I am glad this person's lack of culture/class didn't ruin your ride..
