I agree with cjackg. Don't sell your Glock in favor of the S&W Governor. I have the Taurus ultralite with 3inch barrel we keep by the bed, just in case things get close up and personal, if I have a chance to get up and investigate the problem, I'll be carrying my XDM or something similar. I wasn't impressed with the wide pattern from the 410 shot shells. At 25 or so feet about half the BBs missed, the rifling in the barrel causes the BBs to spread out to fast. I have had better luck with the Winchester PDX1 410 shotshell load (all the disks hit the target, but not all the BBs). I keep mine loaded with two of the 410 PDX1 shells followed with three 45 colt rounds.

There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

The idea behind the .410 shell: it's strictly a close-range weapon that'll have less chance of overpenetration on subsequent strikes of the pellets.

At 25 feet: unless you're being shot at; you shouldn't be firing anyway...
But I do agree with keeping some 45 Colts in for backup: STRONG backup! :2thumbs:

If I catch any one in my house and they are pointing a gun at me, they are going to get shot, 25 feet or not.

Then, there is the S&W Governor . . . also uses the .410 and .45 Long Colt, but uses the .45 ACP, too! As for "keeping the Glock" keep every gun you buy . . . never give one up! They are like children, only you don't have to pay for their college! :yes:

I think that you'd need a moon clip for any 45 ACPs that you want to load. That might make it difficult to load .410s in conjunction with them...
Or do they offer a single-round clip? The ones that I'm familiar with usually held either six rounds. or perhaps just three...

The S&W Governor comes with two round and six round moon clips for the .45 ACP round. You can load 2 .45 rounds, and mix up the .410 and .45 Long Colts any way you want.

It would take a little practice at the shooting range due to the recoil, but it would make one sweet self-protection double tap device. That's for sure!

I see no advantage to loading 45acps into a revolver if it'll take 45 LCs instead...
Moon clips can be a pain to handle upon extraction
(for the unitiated; they snap around the case head of a rimless round in order to prevent it from being pushed futher into the chamber... and then not firing! :shocked

I have been seriously thinking about buying the S&W .460 cal, but with the 8 inch barrel. I like it better than the S&W 500 because with the 460 I can also shoot 45 colt and 454 casull too.

I guess for range firing 45ACP is about half the cost of the 45LC

That is fine to start your practice. But don't forget, you actually have to shoot on the range with the loads you carry in combat. Otherwise, in a combat situation your "appreciation" of the gun's "attitude" won't be right, and it could cost you dearly.

(44 specail in a 44 mag, 38 spl in a 357 mag... etc...)
You have to be extra careful about cleaning that cylinder out... The residue left in the chamber from those rounds, can cause the longer rounds to "stick", and make ejection dificult! :shocked:
