• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Hydraulic Front Brakes Completed!!

I have completed putting hydraulic front brakes on my Spyder. This system is separate from the foot brake and gives you true front brakes. Works great and is something that should have been there from the factory. To install once you have all the pieces is easy but you have to cut the black cowling under the handle bars about 2” shorter on the bottom side. The Silver piece you leave alone but you have to cut the black piece underneath. If you look at the left side, the bottom piece does not come all the way over allowing room for the Clutch master cylinder. Check out the attachment for pictures. ;D

It is just on that I currently sell for ATV racing but it is square on top so I am trying to get an oval type now that looks the same as the left side and polished lever as well. I can get it I just have to wait for it. I have not hooked the two wires up yet to activate the brake light but I will. Thanks for posting the pics properly.

It looks great. I have a couple of extra calipers off of a 109 that i'm going to see if I can fit them in there.
 
I did not weight the calipers which is most of your weight but I would guess all together is about 9 lbs including master cylinder and hoses which does not weigh much. The calipers are from the same manufacture as the others on the Spyder but not the exact caliper as they were made for Canam.

Since I don't own a Spyder this is just a thought ... I know it comes with linked braking system operated solely through a right foot brake. Is it possible to reconfigure (by adding upper master cylinder) the brakes to operate like the typical motorcycle? Add the handbrake BUT just use it for the front wheels, and pull the brake lines off the rear that currently run to the front wheels? I know this will work for a typical bike with just linked brakes, the Spyder is more sophisticated then that with all the computer sensors. I've had bikes before with linked brakes and I'm not crazy about them ... guess it's hard to teach an old dog new tricks.
 
You can not do that because of all the computer controlled items that links to the front brakes in conjunction with the rear. They all three have to work together to be able to operate the brain system correctly. This is not a typical motorcycle when it comes to its brakes.
 
Looks great. The front brake system wouldn't even bother the computer. Say you're riding up a hill or on a sandy beach and let off the throttle. The bike would slow down at an increased rate as opposed to riding on level paved ground. The only issue is an emergency situation that would require the ABS. If you're not thinking clearly, you'd apply the front brakes overriding the ABS. Just a thought.
