• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

How serious is a C1290 error code? Ignore 'til next service, or Dealer Now?

About 6 weeks ago my 2020 RT Limited gave me a C1290, which I looked up and it was described as a “ Steering Angle Sensor Zero Point Malfunction”. Everything seemed fine (and I was out of town) so I continued driving without incident.

It just showed up a second time. The bike seems fine, and I can’t determine how serious this issue is. My dealer currently offers no better than 2 week turnaround, so I’m reluctant to take the bike in if this is a trivial problem.

So - ignore it until next service OR take the bike back to my dealer before it goes nuclear?

Mmmm when was last alignment?- any tire work done? Have you felt any noticeable drifting/ fighting your input?? Also last full charge of battery, good clean tight connections?

thanks, all good suggestions. My battery is fully charged (sitting on a tender, although it is 3 years old…hmmmm). I have never had the front end aligned after the initial purchase, although it tracks straight and true.

:agree: You would not be the first to have a 3-year-old sick battery. It only takes a few minutes to test then you'll know for sure that it isn't that!

Thanks for the input, it was the battery.

I was trying to start the bike to take it to get the battery tested, and after the dashboard lit up there was a "POP", then everything went completley dead. Since I installed a new battery the issue has gone away.

So many people on here just hate to get their battery's tested to knock down the chance of it being the problem. Glad it was the problem!!:2thumbs:
