• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. How much oil

Planning to do an oil change Sunday and I seem to recall a descrepancy in the manual. I have a 2014 rts se6 and I have seen 5 and 5.3 qts in print. Without doing any research yet, I thought id just ask which is it?

Don't know. ..!!

off hand I put in as much as it needs to keep the level just under the full mark... you should always have extra oil on hand anyway...

Absolutely

Yep, I am planning to have a quart in my emergency kit when I'm done. I did read the service bulletin above that was provided, and my suspicion was confirmed that the original manual said 5.3 quarts, but was change later to 5 quarts and then to check and top off as needed. Apparently people were overfilling with 5.3 and having to siphon off.

I never understood carrying extra oil. Waste of space and potential for a mess. Where do you think all the oil in your motor is going to go? Make sure your level is good prior to a trip and leave the extra at home.

I usually pack too much.......

Oil may be on the short list

I'll definitely keep the oil on the " if there's room list" when packing. And, it is really only on long trips and will be in the kit of my trailer.

..Brent, you have the 1330 engine....as do I, and in 18,000 + miles I have never added even a drop.......I wonder if anyone else has ?????..............Mike
I have a 998 and don't even add a drop between changes. 3k-4k oci.
My grandfather used to have bottles of oil rolling around in the trunk of his car....never used any of it....[emoji23]
If you need to pay that much attention to oil there is a problem...there is no reason to over think the oil level and those that do end up causing themselves more issues with it ending up in the airbox.
Make sure your oil level is acceptable before you leave for a trip and don't worry about it til you get home.

On my 990 it seemed I was always adding some oil on longer trips. We were traveled 250 to 300 miles at 70 to 80 mph two up with a trailer frequently so I always carried oil. Not sure what it will be like with new 1330 ryde but will carry oil till I get a feel for oil usage. I have a saddle bag made up of 1 qt. oil, cleaning products, gas additive and small 1st aid kit. I prefer Amsoil also so it is not always available and don't like to blend :sour:.
