• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

How do you secure your helmet when parked?

Honestly folks if someone truly wants your helmet or to vandelize it, all they need is a sharp knife and cut off the D ring. Very simple to replace. D ring lock, cable locks and such can be cut very easy.

If you are paranoid that some one will steal it take it with you or wear it. I do take mine into the Hotel at night.

Agreed, if they want it bad enough it will be gone. A simple cable lock or similar is only to "keep the honest thieves honest". Like they tell my kid at school, most thefts are thefts of opportunity. Leaving a helmet sitting loose on your seat and expecting it to be there when you return, is like leaving your iPad sitting outside on the bench and expecting it to be there later.....

That's. Good question! First, I made two helmet extenders out of an old canvas Army belt and four one inch D rings from Ace hardware. Made them long enough to fit and allow our helmets to hang from under the seats with easy attach and removal. Still on my Spyder.
But scored a used Dual Guardian license plate helmet lock off of EBay. Check it out. You might find something for yourself.

Honestly after looking at the "plastic" hooks under the seat.
Sorry..... if someone wanted your helmet bad enough, it would be far too easy to pull hard enough to break those off. They are flimsy plastic hooks.

Bob

If someone wants your helmet "that bad" they're going to get no matter what. Just a sharp knife is all that's required.
Additionally, if someone wants a helmet that bad - might be time to find a different neighborhood :p

BTW with 50 years of riding, I have never had a helmet stolen whether it be Harlem, South Chicago, Oakland and a lot of other possible questionable areas.
Then maybe I've just been lucky.

We have Bell helmets with Sena intercom snapped in and wouldn't leave them out locked or unlocked. Fortunately the F3 Frunk hold my helmet, nothing else. Need to find another place for the owner booklet so the lid closes easier.

Just to be a bit contrary I'll tell you what I do. I put mine on the seat and drape my jacket over it. With my 'wing, before the Spyder, I set the helmet on the handlebar and hung the jacket on the back of the seat. Started doing this when I got the 'wing in April of 2006, nine years ago. Haven't lost a jacket or helmet yet. Not saying it won't, or can't happen, but hasn't yet. I do take them inside at hotels at night. Sometimes, particularly if I'm using my tent on a trailer, I'll leave the helmet on the seat and put the full cover on the bike.

I simply place mine on the rear seat between trunk and backrest. No locks no tie downs. Never had a problem for 60+ years but then again if I do it is an excuse to buy a new one. Yes I ride with an expensive helmet. (Arai)

Jack

I do the same and we also use Arai helmets.

I am with you on that.....
I have a riding buddy named Bill, I will leave his last name off of here, he has been getting a lot of ribbing for this.... Bill always
hangs his helmet on the handle bars but no more, while out with a bunch of us riding we stopped for lunch and he did the usual and
put his helmet where he always does and while we were in eating a CAT PEED in his helmet:roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:..... you could smell him boy it was bad...
he had to junk the helmet because he could never get the smell out of it... now good old Bill puts his helmet right side up on the seat
or in the side bag or he will carry it in with him...
That helmet was a new Mag

our vendor/sponsors have several. I have seen the bar end locks, license plate lock, under the seat clips (not great on the panels) and the cable locks. most bike shops sell simple helmet locks that you can attach wherever you find the space. I am not happy hanging my helmet upsidedown (birds happen etc).

Use a Helmet Bag??

Hmm. Well, for anyone not terribly concerned about sh*tting birds or p**ing cats, here are pictures of what my Lidlox helmet locks look like installed...

Maybe I'll start slipping a cloth helmet bag over the helmet when I use the locks. That ought to take care of the cat & bird problem. :sour:

+100

That is how I roll but with Kuryakyn ISO Grips and the Kuryakyn helmet locks....

When the saddle bags and frunk are full with my Wife's day of shopping, this works great for US!

One thing I do though is remove the Sena units from the quick disconnect bracket on the helmet, and lock those up.

Then I put the cloth bags that came with our helmets around the helmets to keep crap (like your sh*tting birds or your Pu*king cats ;)) from getting in them and the sun off of them.

So again, this is my solution, like yours, and I love it. :)

So, earlier in the thread I said we just took our helmets with us where we went.....LOL....I was looking at LidLox's site and my wife caught me browsing. She said "those are cool, order a pair for us"........UHHHH, Ok, If I have to. If you say so honey.

Order placed. WooHoo

What we will do to keep peace in the household isn't it?...... I'm glad you stepped up and bit the bullet.

I think that people think on two wheels it could tip over and there is less chance of it tipping over with three wheels which probably makes people a little more bolder.
One time I saw some lady's head bouncing up and down, when I went out to investigate she was on the spyder bouncing up and down.

The uniqueness of the vehicle attracts the inquisitive... :D
Unfortunately; nobody ever taught them to look only with their eyes... :banghead:

Have the helmet lock for the end of the handle bar, on both bikes but concerned that the new Bell helmets and Sena 10 intercoms will be taken. As small as the Frunk is on the F3's, it is the only thing I can put in there.

I cable lock my full face usually the the grips but found smaller cable that fits through gap in handlebars so I can sit on top of gps. Was handy in colder weather as I went in to eat my helmet would soak up heat coming out of vent while parked. Warm ,not foggy. Frunk stays too full to try (pack rat) fyi. Have locked to the saddle bag grip as well, sits better.
